- FREEICON is a simple little utility that corrects one of Workbench's nasty
- habits: when Icons are created, they usually have a "free" position --
- they've positioned on the screen by Workbench, and thus are drawn quickly
- and guaranteed not to land on top of one another. This is handy and useful.
-
- Unfortunately, if you EVER use Workbench to copy an icon across directories
- or disks, or if you EVER use the Workbench "Snapshot" function, or if you
- make a new icon with ICONED from one of these icons, then your icon is
- "pinned-down" to a fixed position and there's no way to free it. Until
- FREEICON, of course.
-
- To use FREEICON from the Workbench to free-up directory, disk, or project
- icons, just SHIFT-select (select while holding down the shift key) all the
- icons you want to free, then double-click on the FREEICON icon. FREEICON
- will free them all, one after another.
-
- To free-up tool (program) icons, SHIFT-select FREEICON FIRST, then the
- tool(s) you want to free, double-clicking on the last tool. FREEICON will
- start up and free all the following icons. This is a strange variation on the
- above, but that's just the way Workbench is.
