- Dear Video Professional:
-
- BCS Software produces software and hardware for video and
- film applications. Two products currently on the market are
- E-LISTER and The Time Code Reader Program. E-LISTER is a
- full-featured program that allows you to create standard format
- edit decision lists. The Time Code Reader Program allows your
- Apple to read SMPTE time code, which can then be used to build
- edit or cue lists, test for dropouts or "glitches" that can ruin
- an edit session, or simply display the time code in large, easy
- to read characters.
-
- In addition to the above two programs, I have also designed
- software for many custom applications. Several customers are
- currently using the Time Code Cue Controller to automatically
- trigger a character generator to insert captions over a video
- program. A list of up to 1600 events can be entered into the
- computer, which then sends a programmable pulse to the character
- generator or switcher at the correct times.
-
- I also have software that allows lists on the Apple to be
- transferred directly to CMX editing equipment. One customer is
- using the automatic edit list feature of the Time Code Reader
- Program to generate a list from the off-line edited tape, and
- then transfer the list to a CMX-340XP. The whole process takes
- slightly longer than it takes to simply play the tape.
-
- I am currently working on the same software for the Amiga.
- I feel that the Amiga is the perfect computer for the video
- professional. This software will take full advantage of the
- genlocking and interlace capabilities, allowing it to become a
- full-featured character generator. Demo versions of the software
- should be available by January 1987.
-
- I am always interested in new applications for the computer
- in video production and post-production. I can program the
- Apple, the IBM, the Radio Shack portables (very handy for the
- field), and the Amiga. Most of the custom programs I have
- developed cost less than $400. I can also design and build any
- interface devices that you might need.
-
- I have worked as systems engineer for Compact Video and RTS
- Systems, and in video production for Ruxton, Ltd. I have found
- that the right software can save a lot of man-hours. Let me know
- what your needs are.
-
- Sincerely,
- Mike Berro
