Please take a moment to read these important comments about our MacBILLBOARD
and other CE Software products available on the MacHonor System.

Many of you have acquired this program as part of a full package (with
manual, user registration card, and licensed disk) from one of our dealers
or from CE Software.  If so, you are fully licensed, and we thank you for
supporting our dealers and ourselves.  Read on to understand how to pass
along evaluation copies of this MacBILLBOARD program to your friends.

If you who have received this program either from a user group,
electronically, as part of our CE Sampler diskette, or from a friend, you
are already benefiting from our "MacHonor" system of distribution.

Please understand that MacBILLBOARD is NOT public domain software.  It is
sold under a concept known as "shareware".  The concept is a simple one.
We ENCOURAGE people to copy and pass along MacBILLBOARD to friends and
acquaintances.  This provides everyone with an opportunity to try the
program before purchasing it.  Once you've tried it and decided that you
like it, then and only then are you required to pay the $35.00 license fee.

The licensed MacBILLBOARD package includes many bonuses beyond the program
itself.  Please do not pass these bonuses on to others.  There's a
comprehensive manual with tips for getting the most from the program,
several "templates" to help you create your own masterpieces, and a special
complementary program called "MacBanner" for making long banners of text
and graphics (on an Imagewriter II, you can even make multi-colored
banners!).  These items are reserved ONLY for those who have licensed
copies, and they serve as an incentive for others to send in their license
fee.

This is user-supported software.  We depend upon your integrity  for our
existence.  Many call us naive, but we choose to trust people.  If you use
our software, a legal license and a contract of honor exists between you
and CE Software.

Our prices are reasonable, our products are superior, and our update policy
is terrific.  We incorporate user feedback in our programs, update packages
regularly, provide newsletters and offer technical support.  Our sole source
of income is from CE Software, and we appreciate knowing that our entire
customer base is honorable.

By showing your support for this form of distribution, you're encouraging
more developers to adopt it.  We now receive roughly a call a week from
developers asking if user-supported distribution is successful.  To date,
we've answered that the jury is out.

We thank Scott Watson, developer of the user-supported, widely-acclaimed,
telecommunications package, "Red Ryder" for many of these thoughts and
especially the following parable.  By the way, we highly endorse "Red Ryder".

   "After conquering a local tyrant, a village decided to put on a big
   shindig to celebrate their new freedom.  Every villager agreed to
   bring two skins of their best wine, which would all be poured into a
   great vat to symbolize the unity with which they fought.  One villager
   (every village has at least one) was the stingy sort, who decided he
   would put water in his skins instead of wine, calculating that the
   dilution would go unnoticed.  As the entire village stood in line,
   emptying their skins of wine into the vat, he made sure no one discovered
   his plot.

   Finally came the evening of the great shindig.  As the villagers gathered
   with their tankards around the vat, the newly appointed leader gave a
   speech that inspired one and all.  Finally, the villagers suggested that
   the leader be first to fill his tankard from the vat, and the leader
   happily agreed.

   When the leader placed his tankard under the vat and turned forth the
   flow of wine, he was surprised to find his glass was filled with clear
   water."

You are hereby licensed to use and distribute this product under the
following conditions:

1. You may give a copy of the MacBILLBOARD application program on this disk
to anyone you wish.  PLEASE DO NOT COPY ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE MacBILLBOARD
PROGRAM.  You may not sell it or receive monetary compensation for
distributing it.  We forbid such charges as duplication or materials fees.
It must be given away absolutely at no charge.  (excepting number seven
below.)  You may not distribute it along with a product you sell without
CE Software's written permission.  You must not modify the programs in any
way.  You must tell the person receiving this disk that this is user-
supported software, and instill in them the spirit of what that means.  In
short, if you try to profit from our work other than through its use, it is
a violation of our copyrights which we must enforce to legally retain.

2. Those of you who receive evaluation copies of the program may evaluate
the program on your own terms, at your own pace, and on your own machine.
If you decide it is not suitable for your purposes after 45 days of the
date you receive it, you must either erase it from your disk(s) or (better)
give all copies to someone else.  If it is not suitable to your purpose
because of a limitation, let us know, we update most of these products
regularly based upon feedback.

3. If you find our software useful, you must (on your honor and within 45
days of receipt) register your copy by sending the appropriate payment to
CE Software.  We encourage you to send us comments, suggestions, criticisms,
creative uses, and maybe even a little praise when you register for your
license.

4. If you do your part to support us, we are honor bound to continue to
both improve our current products and release others of the same or higher
quality.  We have many projects planned and in progress that will help your
Macintosh earn its keep.  The only way they will ever see the light of day
is if we're convinced that user-supported software is a valid marketing
method.

5. Each license is for a single individual only.  Each licensed copy may be
used on only one computer at a time.  Corporations, schools, user groups,
dealers, or other entities that wish to register more than one copy should
contact us.  We are happy to arrange such things as quantity discounts.
You are free to make as many backup copies as you like, and you can sell
your license to someone else as long as you give them all copies of the
program and documentation you own and notify CE Software of the transfer
of license.

6. If you are a licensed user and you find a program error, CE Software
will either fix it or return your license fee, whichever you choose.  By
using our products, you agree to limit CE Software's and the author's
liability for any calamities to the amount of your license fee.

7. Non-profit organizations can inquire about special permission from
CE Software to recover their cost of materials and duplication.  We are
quite reasonable, but we want control of our products.  Until you receive
written permission signed by an officer of CE Software, you may not charge
for copies of our products.

ABOUT Desk Accessories...
      Desk Accessories are the programs under the Apple pull-down menu.
      Notepad and Control Panel are two which come on system disks.  These
      are special types of programs which run even when you are using
      another program.  A special program such as the one described below
      is required to add, take away, or rename these programs.

Desk Accessory Mover version 1.4, (c) 1984, 85 CE Software
      (includes DAM Utility Pack and Apple's Font/DA Mover)
      The original program for desk accessories, it enables you to Install,
      Rename, & Delete desk accessories.  This program must reside on the
      disk containing the system file being changed.  Convert Desk Acc.
      converts desk accessory files from D.A.M. format to Font/DA Mover
      format & back again.  Sample desk accessories included.

MassCopier¬, version 1.2 (c) 1985 CE Software
      This is the only program we know of that can turn your Macintosh into
      an effective, affordable bulk disk duplicator.  MassCopier provides
      virtually hands-free operation.  Duplicate over 53 disks an hour.
      Simply insert the disk to be copied.  Then, just insert disks and
      MassCopier will format, write, verify, and eject each disk.  This is
      one-step copying.  No buttons to click or keys to press.

MockChart¬ version 1.0 (c) 1985 CE Software
      A desk accessory which quickly makes line charts, bar charts, pie
      charts, and hi-lo-close charts without ever leaving your word
      processor.  Enter up to 3 columns of numbers (100 rows per column).
      Select the graph you want, and it appears instantly.  Use the "Copy"
      command to put the graph into a word processing package or into any
      graphics package (MacDraw, MacDraft, MacPaint, or MacBILLBOARD) and
      customize it to your liking. Manual on disk.

MockPackage¬ version 4.2a (c) 1984, 85, 86 CE Software
      Includes three desk accessories and a terminal configuration program.
      MockWrite¬ is a limited feature word processor.  Think of it as a
                super notepad.  Files can be saved by name and then used by
                any word processing program.  It has an adjustable window,
                word wrap, find, and even handles tabs.
      MockPrinter¬ will print text files in background while you use another
                program.  Specify print spacing, line spacing, paper size,
                margins, tab width, number of copies, and an information
                header.
      MockTerminal¬ is a telecommunications package for use with a modem.
                Quickly access electronic services without quitting your
                project at hand.  Store up to 7 phone numbers in the
                convenient phone dialer.  Store the information received
                in a text file or "Play" information saved in a file into
                the modem.  Configure MockTerminal is an application program
                which sets parameters after MockTerminal is installed.

CalendarMaker¬ version 1.2 (c) 1985, 86 CE Software
      Ever have a yearning to make your very own personalized wall calendars?
      With this program, you can!  Each month prints on a separate page.
      You select the illustration to be used (a picture created with either
      MacPaint¬ or our own MacBILLBOARD).  You also can enter notes for any
      or every day (up to 65 characters) -- anything from "Christmas" to "Bo's
      Birthday" to "company agenda."  This program is invaluable for
      families, clubs and businesses, and is fun for everyone.

MacBILLBOARD¬ (c) 1984,1985,1986 CE Software
      This is our newest release, but it has been in the works for a long
      time.  MacBILLBOARD is a graphics package which transcends all others
      in usefulness, and it can be used in a multitude of ways at home and
      at the office.

      Be creative with its graphics editor.  Make original pictures or
      modify any artwork created with MacPaint¬.  Select as much of the
      picture as you want, and move it around.  You're not limited to the
      size of the screen.  This powerful "electronic art shop" was designed
      to make your job easier.  Make signs, flyers, and announcements.
      Attractive and personalized.

      Enlarge your creation up to 32 times its original size when printed.
      Tape the strips together and you can have a sign up to 21'4" by 26'8".
      Doesn't that sound a lot like a billboard?  You can even electronically
      trim your work so there's no waste.  Special features allow you to
      quickly and easily print greeting cards, note cards, or invitations.

      Express yourself with original, personalized t-shirts.  MacBILLBOARD
      will automatically reverse your picture to produce iron-on transfers.
      (This requires a heat transfer ribbon).

      We have a series of BONUSES for MacBILLBOARD licensees.  When you
      send in your license fee, we'll send you a manual loaded with hints
      and suggestions, several sample pictures that make your creations
      easier and better, and a special free program:  MacBANNER!

      MacBanner allows you to type a message of virtually any length, mixing
      fonts, sizes, and styles (even pictures).  WITH AN IMAGEWRITER II YOU
      CAN NOW MIX COLOR!  It will then print the whole banner in a continuous
      strip, one or two strips tall.  Remember, these bonuses are only
      available to MacBILLBOARD licensees.  They will not be "shared" as in
      our regular products!
