  4. This readme.txt file applies to the following version:
  5. Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Win32s.

  7. e-Mail Notify is now a 5$ Shareware. Please see section II.
  8. The Win32s version is now provided free of charge...

  10. I.  Introduction
  11.  
  12. e-Mail Notify is a Winsock Internet e-Mail client.
  13. It will connect to your POP3 server for you and retrieve
  14. the headers of any e-mail waiting there for you.
  15. You can configure e-Mail Notify very extensively to warn
  16. you about new mail.
  17. If it runs in Windows 95 or Windows NT
  18. it uses Multi-Threading for smoother multi-tasking.
  19. You will hardly notice anything happens when it
  20. transfers headers, even on a PPP link.
  21. If it runs in Windows 95 or in NT 3.51 with the Shell Preview
  22. it will add a small icon in the Windows 95 TaskBar
  23. where you will be able to control everything from.
  24. Under Windows 95, it can also control its Dial-Up Networking
  25. and dial out automatically to check for new mails.

  27. It now also includes "Fast View" and "Fast Delete" functions.

  48. II. Why and How to Register

  50. You can use this software for 30 days. After this trial period,
  51. if you continue to use it without registering it, then you are
  52. a *PIRATE*, and you should feel very bad !!!

  54. More seriously, you should register this program because 5$ is not
  55. much money for you, but it can be a lot for me !

  57. You should register because you will get e-mail as soon as there are
  58. new versions.

  85. III.  Which Version Should I use ?
  86.  
  87. If you run Windows for Workgroups 3..11 then you will need win32s 1.30
  88. and will want to run the Win32s version.
  89.  
  90. If you run Windows NT 3.5 use the Win NT 3.5 version.

  92. If you run Windows 95, Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT 3.51 
  93. with the Shell Preview, or anything more recent than this including 
  94. stubs or implementation for the New Shell API and supporting Multi-Threading, 
  95. the use the Windows 95 version.

  98. IV.  Installation and switches
  99.  
  100. Installation is very easy. Just copy the file in some directory
  101. and run e-Mail Notify. Additionally, there are some useful switches
  102. you can add as command-line parameters:

  104. /Sn
  105.  
  106. If you add the Switch when Running e-Mail Notify, then it will
  107. run a specific configuration depending on the value of "n".
  108. Not adding this switch uses default configuration "0".
  109. This way you can run multiple instance of e-Mail Notify for
  110. different mailboxes you have.

  113. Example:

  115. Run email /S0 and email /S1 will start to instances of  e-Mail Notify.
  116. Modifying options in any of these instances will not have any influence
  117. on the other instance or on the future instances of e-Mail Notify,
  118. unless they are ran with the same Settings Switch.
