  74. This package contains CompuSlave For Windows (TM) by Stevenson Technical
  75. Services, Inc. (STSI).  This document contains only a brief description
  76. of the package and its features, along with instructions for its
  77. installation. Quite detailed documentation is included in the package,
  78. but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after installation.

  80. CompuSlave is a program designed to import CompuServe forum capture
  81. files into a database, converting them to individual messages.  Add,
  82. delete, edit, and search the entire database for key words or phrases.
  83. Make those messages work for you!  Create your own technical support
  84. resource. CompuSlave is ideal for power users, programmers, and network
  85. administrators.  Network support is included.

  87. CompuSlave is a shareware program. You may use it for up to 2 weeks,
  88. without charge (see CSLAVEW.DOC for more details).  If you like the
  89. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  90. are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for more details).
  91. Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to
  92. obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their copying and
  93. distribution services, rather than a payment for continued use of the

  113. ===== Installation =====================================

  115. To install CompuSlave For Windows, follow these instructions:
  116.  
  117. The package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  118. installation process.  You will need about 3 megabytes of available disk
  119. space on the hard drive on which you plan to install CompuSlave For
  120. Windows.  Additional space will be required for each database you create.
  121. The amount of space required for databases depends completely on the
  122. number of messages that will be stored in the database.

  124. The exact steps you need to take to install CompuSlave will depend on how
  125. you received the program.

  128. Installing From Diskettes
  129.  
  130. To install from diskette, you need to perform the following steps.
  131.  
  132. 1. Place the CompuSlave distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the appropriate
  133. diskette drive.
  134.  
  135. 2. From Program Manager, select File Run. Execute the "setup.exe" program
  136. on the distribution diskette. For example, if the distribution diskette
  137. is on drive A:, type the command, "a:setup".
  138.  
  139. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the setup program. You will have
  140. a chance to approve installation before any changes are actually made to
  141. the contents of your hard drive.  The program will ask you for a
  142. destination directory, and will copy the program files to that directory.
  143. When the setup program has finished installing files, you will be
  144. informed if the installation was successful.

  148. Installing From A Hard Drive

  150. If you downloaded CompuSlave For Windows from a BBS (or received it in
  151. the form of an archive file from some other source), you will need to
  152. perform the following steps.

  155. 1. Extract the contents of the archive file into a temporary directory on
  156. your hard drive.
  157.  
  158. 2. From Program Manager, select File, Run.  Execute the "setup.exe"
  159. program, which you have extracted.  For example, if the temporary
  160. directory into which you have extracted the files is C:\TEMPDIR, you
  161. would type the command, "c:\tempdir\setup".

  163. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You
  164. will have a chance to approve installation before any changes are
  165. actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The installation
  166. program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the
  167. program files to that directory.
