  6. String Checker checks STR , STR#, DITL, MENU, TEXT, and CNTL resources for spelling errors. It also checks for DebugStr and Debugger traps and MacsBugs labels in the CODE resources.

  8. To select the file to check, simply:
  9. 1) Select Open from the File menu, or
  10. 2) Click in the File to Examine rectangle, or
  11. 3) If you have Drag & Drop Installed, Drag a file with a resource fork to the File to Examine rectangle.

  13. To Check Spelling:
  14. 1) Make sure the Check Spelling checkbox is turned on
  15.     a) Auto-Scan will check spelling, but will not allow the user to have the spelling checker learn words. It will just put the questionable words in a scrollable TE window. If Auto-Scan is turned off, every questionable word will stop the checking, allowing the user to add the word to a User Dictionary, by clicking a Learn button.
  16.     b) Spelling Suggestions will allow the user to specify the maximum number of words to suggest on a questionable word. Zero to 10 is the valid range.

  18. To check for Debugger and DebugStr traps in CODE:
  19. 1) Make sure the Check for Debuggers checkbox is turned on.

  21. To check for MacsBugs labels in CODE:
  22. 1) Make sure the Check for MacsBugs Labels checkbox is turned on.

  24. During the checking, questionable spelling, CODE with Debugs traps, and MacsBugs labels will be added to a scrolling text window. This window will be displayed when the checking is done, or the user stops the checking process.
