  5. Syntax: pformat ( "format-string", "axis", I )

  9.     Sends a format-string to the I:th GNUPLOT-window.
  10.     "axis" can be "x", "y", "z", "xy", or nothing (which is the
  11.     same as "xy"), setting the format to, for example, "%g" or
