- AHA-2740, 2740A, 274xT, 2742AT, 2842, 2842A Controllers:
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- Backup Exec for NetWare v7.01 was compatibility tested
- with the following driver versions:
-
- NetWare 3.x NetWare 4.x
- ------------------ ------------------
- Driver: Version: Module Version: Module
- Date: Date:

- ASPITRAN.DSK 1.20 10/13/94 1.20 10/13/94
-
- When using a SCSI hard disk attached to a 274x or 284x
- controller and running the AIC7770.DSK dated 12/15/94, the
- frequency and speed of disk accesses generated by running a
- backup job from Backup Exec has sometimes resulted in the
- AIC7770.DSK driver reporting several failures to write to
- disk and then dismounting the volume. This also results in
- the Backup Exec Job Manager reporting "FATAL ERROR
- ACCESSING JOB QUEUE". This issue may be resolved by
- Adaptec in a future release of the AIC7770.DSK driver.
-
-
- AHA-294x Controller:
- --------------------
-
- Backup Exec for NetWare v7.01 was compatibility tested

-
-
- Recommended Drive Selection Settings
- ------------------------------------
-
- It is recommended that, when used with an Adaptec
- controller, the SCSI ID for the tape drive be set at
- address 2 for the first tape drive. Addresses 0 and
- 1 are reserved for hard disks.
-
-
- Synch Negotiation Changes Required
- ----------------------------------
-
- If you are using a Conner DAT or DAT-DC tape
- drive connected to an Adaptec 1640 or 174x
- controller, you must disable the controller's Synch
- Negotiation (i.e., the Adaptec controller must not
- initiate a synch negotiation). Use the PS/2 setup
- or EISA configuration utility provided with your
- system to change this option. The controller's transfer
- rate should also be set to 5 Mbits/second with these
- tape drives.
-
- Recommendation for loading AHA1510.DSK
- --------------------------------------
-
- When loading the AHA1510.DSK driver, Adaptec recommends
- that you explicitly specify all of the load options
- available, for example:
-
- load aha1510 port=aaa verbose=y fixed_disk=off
- int=i id=z sync=off
-
- where aaa = port address of 1510 controller card
- i = interrupt setting of 1510 card
- z = SCSI address of the 1510 card
-
-

- CPQSDISK.DSK 1.21 11/05/93
- CPQSXPT.DSK 1.00 09/11/92
-
- If you are using this controller, you need to load the
- CPQSASPI.NLM before starting Backup Exec. You should
- place a "LOAD CPQSASPI.NLM" statement either in your
- AUTOEXEC.NCF file, or at the top of your BESTART.NCF file
- to ensure that this NLM is loaded when Backup Exec starts.
-
-
- o Conner (Maynard) SCSI Controllers
-
- 16-bit and PS/2 Controllers:
- ----------------------------
-
- When installing these controllers, you must make sure
- that the DMA channel the card is using does not
- conflict with other hardware in your system. Backup
- Exec cannot detect DMA conflicts for this card.
-
- On an EISA system, we recommend that you use the
- supplied !CNR1600.CFG configuration file for
- configuring this controller.
-
- On a Microchannel system, we recommend that you use
- the supplied @568D.ADF configuration file for
- configuring this controller.
-
- The DLT family of drives is not supported with
- these controllers.
-
- Loaders are not supported with these controllers.

- Additional SCSI Device Support notes:
-
- o Conner DAT or DAT-DC
-
- If you experience problems using these drives, make
- sure that the SCSI controller you are using does not
- initiate Sync Negotiation. Also try setting the
- transfer rate to 5MB/Second.
-
- o Conner Python DAT 4320
-
- DO NOT attempt to access a tape created by a Conner
- Python DAT-DC 4322 if your Python DAT drive has
- firmware versions 1.36 or 2.19! In this situation,
- the DAT drive will appear hung for up to 10 minutes
- before returning control to Backup Exec for NetWare.
- This problem was fixed in the 2.66 firmware revision.
-
- o Diamondback DAT Loaders
- (Conner 4L-DATi, Conner 4L DATi+, Compaq 4586,
- IBM 4586, DEC TLZ6L)
-
- If you are using a Diamondback DAT Loader, make sure
- that a magazine is loaded in the drive prior to starting
- the Backup Exec Job Manager (BEMGR.NLM). This loader
- supports magazines with 4, 8, or 12 tapes inserted and
- Backup Exec determines the number of tape slots supported
- during initialization. If a magazine is not inserted in
- the drive when Backup Exec initializes, the software
- reports that no tape drives have been found. If this
- happens, simply exit Backup Exec, insert the magazine in
- the loader and reload Backup Exec. In addition, once
- Backup Exec is loaded and running, you may insert a
- different size magazine and re-initialize Backup Exec for
- the new size by performing the Options/Controller/Test
- operation in the Job Manager main menu.
-
- Tape magazines should not be manually ejected from
- the Diamondback loader while the Job Manager is
- running. Doing this may cause the Job Manager to hang
- upon exit. To change or remove the magazine, first
- perform the Utilities/Eject Tape operation in the Job
- Manager main menu. Then proceed to change or remove
- the magazine.
-
- o Conner MS525Q
-
- Writing to non-native format tapes is not supported
- on the Conner MS525Q drive with 25582-004 firmware.
-
- o WangDAT
-
- The WangDAT drives have a switch which enables/disables
- Software Eject. It is set to "DISABLE" by default. If
- the feature is "ENABLED", Backup Exec's Utility "Eject
- Tape" feature will operate. If this switch is left
- in the disable position, Backup Exec will only rewind
- the tape when the "Eject Tape" function is selected.
-
- o Dilog Libra Loader
-
- This loader is not supported when it is in "SEQUENTIAL"
- mode. It must be in "RANDOM" mode. You can change the
- mode by using the menu buttons on the front panel of the
- loader. The key sequence to use is as follows:
-
- Select Menu
- Select Setup
- Scroll to select Configuration
- Select Configuration
- Select Mode
-
- At this point, if you get the "Change to RANDOM",
- answer "Yes" to go to RANDOM" mode. If you get
- "Change to SEQUENTIAL", answer "No" because you are
- already in "RANDOM" mode.
-
- After changing the magazine on the loader, you must press
- the "Load" button on the front panel of the loader and wait
- for the magazine initialization to complete before issuing
- commands (backup, verify, catalog, etc.).
-
- o ADIC-DAT Autochanger VLS 4mm
-
- The magazine must be loaded (ALT-LOAD on VLS loader) before
- any tape operations are performed. Allow the magazine
- initialization to complete before issuing commands.
-
