- Log-a-drive
- Version 1.0
- by Nathan Becker
-
- Log-a-drive fixes the annoying Abort, Retry, Fail? message that occurs
- when you try to log on a drive with no disk in it. Usually when you get this
- message you get stuck in an endless loop of Abort, Retry, Fail? messages until
- you stick a disk in the drive that you accidentaly logged onto. If you use
- Log-a-drive, you won't get stuck in an endless loop of Abort, Retry, Fail?
- messages. In fact, you will probably never see that message again.
-
- To use Log-a-drive simply run LOG.EXE with the name of the drive
- letter. Also the /? gives help. Below are some examples.
-
- LOG A: Log onto drive A
- LOG A Log onto drive A (the program doesn't need the colon)
- LOG /? Get help
-
- If you want to avoid typing so much, you can rename LOG.EXE the
- name of the drive you want to log on to. For instance, if you rename LOG.EXE
- to A.EXE, Log-a-drive will automatically know to log onto drive A without
- needing the command line parameter. So you would just type A to log onto drive A.
- I would suggest making several copies of LOG.EXE and renaming them for each
- of your drives. For instance, if you have drives A, B, C, and D then make
- four copies of LOG.EXE and rename them the A.EXE, B.EXE C.EXE, and D.EXE.
- Then to log onto a drive just type the name of the drive. Remember, don't
- use a colon in this case because DOS will log on the old way with the
- infamous Abort, Retry, Fail? message. Examples are below.
- A Log on drive A (if you rename LOG.EXE to A.EXE)
- A: Don't use this, DOS will think it a command not
- a call to Log-a-drive
