-
- This program is ©1994,1995 Matthew Hambley
-
- It is Freeware. This means it may be distributed freely on the

-
- a. no money is made from it although a small charge may be made for
- duplication and p+p.
- b. No files are deleted, altered or added to the !TrackInfo directory
-
- The contents of the directory should be:
-
- !Boot, !Help, !Run, Templates, !Sprites, !RunImage
-
- Tracker Info is supplied as is. Therefore no guarantee is given or

- 2. Tracker Info
- ===============
-
- !TrackInfo is a desktop application that will display information on a
- tracker file when one is dragged into it. I wrote it to help in making a
- database of all the tracker files in my disc collection. The information
- shown is:
-
- File name - the name of the tracker file.
- File size - how big the file is.
- Title - the name of the tracker.
- Author - The name of the trackers creator. This is not available for
- ProTrackers. On the other hand Symphony files have very large
- author fields, so only the last 58 characters are shown.
- Tracks - the number of tracks a piece of music has.
-
- There are also four icons showing the four recognised formats. These
- grey out to leave the format currently under scrutiny.
-
- The author field for Symphony files is large as has already been noted.
- A list follows which gives the standard "conversion authors" that I know of:
-
- Converted from Amiga ProTracker using Digital Symphony!
- Converted from Archimiedes Tracker using Digital Symphony!
- Converted from Maestro using Digital Symphony!
-
- If an author field has any carraige return characters in it they will be
- represented with a down arrow character, thus: ⇩

- 3. Revision History
- ===================
-
- V1.00 - The first version. The first WIMP program I have managed to write
- in one day. It recognises Tracker and Protracker files.
-
- V1.10 - Program can now recognise digital symphony files. One problem is the
- symphony author records are massive. We are talking real "wow that's
- big" time. Due to this only the last 32 characters are shown. This
- is usually sufficient. A list of standard "conversion authors" is
- given in the main text.
-
- V1.20 - A file length icon has been added because its a useful thing to know.
- The amount of space for author strings has been increased to 58
- characters. This caused a problem with author strings with new line
- characters in them. This was also dealt with.
-
- V1.30 - Desktop tracker has been released and I now have a file from it.
- New code has been created and an extra icon included so TrackInfo
- will now correctly identify these files sometimes. I can't find the
- number of tracks though. I will need more examples before that can
- be added and the reliability of the routines increased.
-
- V1.31 - Rewriten the Digital Symphony Author detection code as it wasn't
- working with some files.
-
- v1.40 (10 Aug 95) - Re write of the Digital Symphony title and author detection
- routines after I was given some symphony files that wouln't
- work. These routines should be much more reliable now that
- I have some more information on the symphony file format.
-
- 42.00 (10 Aug 1995) - When making the above amendments I realised what a mess
- the program was so I re-wrote it.
-
- 4. Upkeep
- =========
-
- If you find any tracker files that don't work or any unusual Symphony
- "conversion authors" send them to me and I will do my best to update the
- program for you. I particularly need examples of Desktop Tracker files
- as I have only ever seen two in my life and one of them has disapeared
- so I have not been able to work out where the number of tracks is stored
- in the file.
-
- Send any bugs or odd trackers to:
-
- Matthew Hambley,
- 15, North Roundall,
- Limekilns,
- Dunfermline,
- Fife, KY11 3JY.
-
- or contact me electronicaly through:
