  8. RTF Reader is a program to extract the document text from an RTF Version 1.4 text.
  9. The extracted text is placed into a standard Acorn text file.
  10.  
  11. Using RTFReader
  12. ===============

  14. To launch RTFReader, just double-click on the !RTFReader icon which will then
  15. appear on the right hand side of the icon bar.
  16.  
  17. To extract the text from an RTF file, simply drag the file onto the icon bar 
  18. !RTFReader icon. The program executes automatically and displays a file save dialog
  19. for dragging into a directory window. The new file contains the extracted text. A 
  20. report window is opened when the program executes which is used to show any information
  21. or error messages.

  29.         Info   -> displays the standard information dialog
  30.         Report -> displays the run report window
  31.         Quit   -> quits the RTFReader application

  34. Limitations
  35. ===========

  37. The RTFReader does not fully support the ANSI character set, but will do its best.
  38.  
  39. RTFReader has not been tested under RISC OS 2 or on a StrongARM processor.
  40.  
  41. This is a beta release. This program has undergone a lot of testing, unfortunately
  42. commands have been discovered in Word documents which do not appear in the RTF 1.4
  43. standard definition. At this time I do not know why the discrepency occurs. Please 
  44. feel free to contact me in the event that you discover a file that RTFReader cannot
  45. handle and I'll try to get a fix in place.

  47. In addition, the program only currently processes a file which can be loaded into 
  48. memory. Therefore, you may have trouble with large files where you have little memory
  49. available.
