- POV-Ray(tm) Version 3.00
-
- Acorn RISC OS specific ReadMe
-
- I. Introduction
- ===============
-
- This is a port of POV-Ray V3.00e to the Acorn RISC OS platform. Please read
- this document carefully, as it contains information about the differences
- to the original unix version of POV-Ray and about future plans, too.
-
- At the moment, it's a very small port of POV-Ray, as it doesn't support any
- RISC OS feature like a WIMP front-end or a other display than a text based
- that gives you just a vague view of the real image.
-
- II. Filenames
- =============
-
- There is one main difference to the unix version: filenames. Unix allows
- filenames like 'szene.pov' or 'hellow.c', but RISC OS uses the point as the
- filename seperator. The problem is solved like all current C compiler did
- it: a filename 'hellow.c' could be used, but it is translated to 'c.hellow'.
- So you have to create a directory 'c' and put into it the file 'hellow'.
- Look at the different directories including the sample files to see what i
- mean.
- Even outputs are handled this matter, so take care to have a correct
- directory where povray can place it's files.
- When you use POV-Ray you don't need to type in the .pov extension for the
- input file as it is appended and you mustn't do this for the output
- file. E.g.: 'povray +Ipovscn.level1.cantelop +Ocantelop', input file is
- 'povscn.level1.cantelop.pov' output file is 'cantelop.tga' (for targa).
-
- This translation was the only way to prevent you to rewrite all existing
- povray scene files as they include lines like:
- #include "colours.inc"
-
- III. Environment Variables
- ==========================
-
- The ported version of POV-Ray uses the same environment variables as the
- unix version. See the documentation or the file !ClickMe for help.
-
- IV. Installation
- ================
-
- Not much to say about it. Just unpack the archive and edit the povini file
- in the ini directory to fit your system. That's it.
-
- V. Memory
- ==========
-
- You should have at least about 1300K for POV-Ray to run. 4-8MB are
- recommended.
-
- VI. Future Plans
- ================
-
- If there is enough interest, some improvements could be added to POV-Ray:
-
- - WIMP frontend
- - real display (Sprite)
- - other output formats like Sprite
-
- So please let me know, if you are useing POV-Ray 3.00 and if you would
- like some improvements.
