- !Help file for PDBase
-
- version 2.00 (16-Aug-94)
-
- by Andrew Ayre
- ------------------------------------
-
- Introduction...
-
- PDBase allows you to easily create a database of all your discs. Once
- created, you can search for any string, and store all matches onto the
- clipboard for easy viewing and saving in a text file.
- PDBase can store up to 10000 enties (more if you have lots of memory and
- do a bit of DIY on the !RunImage and !Run files) and 200 entries on the
- clipboard.
-
- Acorn's interactive !Help application is supported.
-
- Using...
-
- If you have been using a previous version then see the section towards the
- end which details the changes since the last version, and how to use your
- existing records.
-
- Double-click on the PDBase icon in a filer window to load it onto the
- iconbar.
-
- Initially you will have no records so most of the menu options will be
- greyed out.
-
- To add a file simply drag it onto the icon. The filename and the disc name
- will automatically be taken from the full pathname. Because of this it is
- essential that your discs are named and labeled correctly.
-
- To save the records select the 'Save' option from the iconbar menu. If you
- select 'Quit' without saving your records then you will be warned and asked
- to confirm that you still want to quit.
-
- To browse through the records, select the 'Browse' option from the iconbar
- menu. The main window will appear with the first record in. Click on the up
- and down arrows to move up or down a file at a time or a disc at a time.
-
- To find a string either select the 'Find' option or move onto the submenu.
- The find window will appear. Enter the string to search for in the writeable
- icon. If you want to store the matches onto the clipboard, then make sure
- that the option is turned on. Click on 'OK' to start the search.
- If you are not using the clipboard, then when a match is found, the main
- window will appear with that record in. Click on 'Next' to search for the
- next match.
- If you are using the clipboard, then if there are any matches then the
- main window will appear with the first entry in the clipboard. Use the up
- and down arrows to move back and forth through the clipboard. Pressing Menu
- over the window will bring up the clipboard menu. Select save or move onto
- the submenu and a standard save box will appear allowing you to save the
- clipboard as a text file.
-
- Changes from version 1.00...
-
- New windows - more compact and done in the style of !NewLook.
- An icon for when the windows are iconised onto the pinboard.
- Quicker when browsing and looking at the clipboard.
- Percentage indicator on the hourglass now works when using the find option
- and the clipboard.
- Clipboard menu now only comes up when relevent (ie. looking at the
- clipboard).
- Simpler to use - removed prefs option, disc name option, and status
- window.
- Now supports Acorn's interactive !Help application.
- New !Help file.
- Most of the !RunImage file has been re-written.
-
- If you have been using a previous version, then you can transfer your
