- FTPOV 1.1
-
- A port of the Faster-Than-POV source, with additional extra features. Speeds
- up rendering times of POV using first hit and light buffers, at the expense
- of slightly extra memory. Snow, ground fog, glowing light sources and extra
- textures have also been added in this port.

- POVRAY21e
-
- A recompile of the POV source, with additional extra features. The POVRAY21e
- binary is about 20k less than than the FTPOV11 binary, so may prove useful
- when operating under minimal memory conditions. I remember unplugging the
- majority of modules in ROS311, and running POV from the supervisor prompt
- (I'd unplugged the desktop module) when I had my little A3000 with only 2mb.

- Instructions On Use
- -------------------
-
- If you're using the POV front end, open the !POVray2 application, rename
- the file 'povray2' to something like 'oldpov'. Copy POVRAY21e into the
- directory, and rename it to 'povray2'. The front end will now run the new
- version.
-
- FTPOV11 cannot be used from the front end, because there is nowhere in the
- front end to add additional command line options. Sorry, but you'll have
- to run it from the command line! (Gasps of horror from the ensuing masses)
- See the POV file for documentation on the command line options. If you're
- still stuck, you could always ask Brian Ruth to update the front end.

- The Features
- ------------
-
- These are documented briefly in the Features textfile, and the various bits
- of code and details from the authors are contained in the authors directory.
-
-
- Distribution
- ------------
-
- As far as I'm concerned, you can do what you like with this, however other
- people may have other ideas. You are requested to refer to the files
- regarding the various parts of this build as to how you are allowed to
- distribute it.
-
- As a general rule of thumb (don't quote me on this!) you can do what you like
- with it as long as you don't charge for it, and that you make sure that the
- authors are given full credit for their work. You must also keep all of the
- files together, especially the POVLegal file, and the Authors sub- directory,
- because that's where all the legal stuff is.

- My thanks goes out to all the authours who so willingly stuck there code in
- the public domain, if there are any problems, you'd better report them to me
- (Brian), since as soon as you mention RISC-OS, most of them won't have a clue
- about what you're talking about.
-
- Thanks especially to Adam Hamilton for giving me his small routine that swaps
- the DOS filenames around. It means that this is compatible with the version
- he released. With a bit of luck I might be able to persuade him to compile a
- version that works with the Floating Point Co-Processor.
