  4. Predict is presented as PD, subject to the conditions below. I have not
  5. given any instructions for use here as I think you will find it pretty
  6. obvious once you start the application.

  8. Providing you enter data that is accurate I have found that over a 24hr
  9. period the program is pretty good, certainly as good as our local forecasts!
  10. It was designed with children undertaking a weather topic in mind, allowing
  11. them to use data gathered to make predictions - covering IT attainment
  12. targets. If you find it useful then you may be interested in another
  13. application: Forecast, details below.

  37. Shown below is a brief description (E & O.E) of applications by the same
  38. author. Virtually all are of an educational nature, running under the WIMP.
  39. Most work on RISC OS 2, all work on RISC OS 3. I have not tried them on a
  40. RISC PC, but they ought to be ok! Demonstration/shareware versions of these can be ordered by sending £1 for the first title (then 50p per additional title) to the address above. A catalogue is also available upon request.

  42. Geography:
  43. * Where & Grid - Designed for Key Stage 3, Where & Grid are two
  44.   complementary applications. They test locations of countries (Europe &
  45.   Africa), towns, counties (UK only) rivers, montains, bearings, four and
  46.   six figure grid references. Currently the set covers the UK, Europe
  47.   & Africa.
  48. * OS_Symbols - Designed for Key Stage 3, OS_Symbols tests knowledge of a
  49.   range of OS Map symbols. A particular symbol is displayed and the correct
  50.   description must be found - time limits can be set.
  51. * Forecast - Produce your own weather maps just like on TV with symbols and
  52.   isobars. Variety of maps supplied; wind chill can be determined.
  53. * Predict - Predict the weather for the next 24 hours by supplying data
  54.   such are pressure and wind direction.
  55. * Link - A 'blockbuster' type quiz game, where all the words are connected
  56.   with Key Satge 3 geography.

  58. Science:
  59. * Circuit symbols - Tests knowledge of circuit and electronic symbols
  60.   against the clock.
  61. * Assist: Science AT4 - Produce a wide range of worksheets for topics on 
  62.   AT4. Each topic has a wide range categories including word searches,
  63.   crosswords, True or False, Anagrams and Missing words. Worksheets are
  64.   created from a databank, so they are different each time they are printed.
  65. * Assist: Equations - Produce four types of worksheets based on chemical
  66.   equations. Categories are Balancing equations, Missing product, Missing
  67.   reactant and Right or Wrong. Because a databank is used, worksheets are
  68.   different each time they are printed.
  69. * Assist: Periodic Table - Print a customised Periodic Table. Displayed data
  70.   can include mass number, density, boiling point, melting point,
  71.   radioactive isotopes, atomic radius, atomic volume, covalent radius,
  72.   ionisation energy, & electronegativity. Graphs and periodic trends can
  73.   also be produced.
  74. * Periodic Table - Click on a particular element to display relevant data. 
  75. * ArcMedia: Space - A simple hypermedia system on the Solar System. Designed
  76.   to be 1Meg RISC OS 2 friendly. Variety of NASA images.
  77. * Multiple Choice Chemistry - Several hundred multiple questions (some with
  78.   pictures) covering GCSE Chemistry. Time limits can be set.
  79. * Multiple Choice Physics - Several hundred multiple questions (some with
  80.   pictures) covering GCSE Physics. Time limits can be set.

  82. Word Puzzles:
  83. * Word Search - Application for creating word searches. Control over grid
  84.   size, displayed fonts, grid shape & borders is provided.
  85. * Do Search - Compliments the Word Search application. Data files from Word
  86.   Search can be dragged into Do Search, allowing the word search to be done
  87.   on screen
  88. * X-Word - Creates and prints crosswords from words and clues provided by
  89.   the user. Control over grid size, displayed fonts & borders is provided.
  90. * Do-Word - Compliments the X-Word application. Data files from X-Word can
  91.   be dragged into Do Word, allowing the crossword to be done on screen.
  92. * Anagram - Reconstruct the jumbled up word by solid dragging of the
  93.   letters. Hint feature is also provided.
  94. * Guess - Guess the word chosen by the computer. Hint feature provided.
  95. * Bottle - Hangman type game, but with bottles. Hints also provided.
  96. * Cloze - Removes words (user can determine how many) from a passage of
  97.   text. User must then reconstruct the entire text by entering words into
  98.   gaps in the text. Add your own passages of text easily. Summary can be
  99.   printed.

  101. Picture Puzzles:
  102. * Blocksaw - Jigsaw type application, using blocks for the pieces. Accepts
  103.   sprite and draw files. Size of the grid can be varied to cover a wide
  104.   range of abilities.
  105. * Tile - Picture is broken into a series of tiles, and then the tiles mixed
  106.   up. The picture must be recreated by swapping tiles. Uses sprite or draw
  107.   files; allows the number of tiles to be varied and has three difficulty
  108.   levels.
  109. * Slide - Sliding block puzzle. Uses sprite or draw files; allows the number
  110.   of tiles to be varied and has three difficulty levels.
  111. * Rows n Cols - Recreate a picture (either sprite or draw) by sliding rows
  112.   or columns into their correct positions.

  114. Miscellaneous:
  115. * Link - A 'blockbuster' type quiz game for up to three players. Database
  116.   can be easily modified to include your own words.
  117. * Multiple Choice (General) - Multiple choice quiz, some with pictures. Many
  118.   general knowledge topics covered. Editor also available so you can create
  119.   your own tests.
  120. * Multiple Choice Maths - Several hundred multiple questions (some with
  121.   pictures) covering GCSE Maths. Time limits can be set.
  122. * ArcMedia (Cats) - A simple hypermedia system on the Cat Family. Designed
  123.   to be 1Meg RISC OS 2 friendly. 
  124. * Word Tester - Tests knowledge of the correct word for numbers from one to
  125.   one hundred in various languages. Played against the clock.
  126. * Facemaker - Use your computer to design a face, then either print or
  127.   export as a sprite file.
  128. * Desktop Turtle - Create on screen graphics with a 'Turtle' within a
  129.   desktop window. Wide range of commands supported including numeric
  130.   variables as well as sprites and sounds. Other features include variable
  131.   line thickness, auto symmetry and backdrops.
  132. * Birthday & Today. Produce an A4 sized poster on events taking place in
  133.   history either on your Birthday or any particular day. Information
  134.   displayed includes Famous Birthdays on the same day, events, films, songs
  135.   and sporting events. Variety of borders/watermarks provided.
  136. * School CV & CV+. School leavers (CV) or sixth form students (CV+) can
  137.   quickly create a CV by entering data. Layouts can be chosen from a
  138.   predefined set, and fonts changed. DTP style output without having to use
  139.   a DTP application.
