  1. PCA Example archive
  2. -------------------
  3. This archive contains details of the Plug-In-Compliant Application (PCA)
  4. messaging standard. This standard is designed to facilitate the sharing of
  5. common data object types residing in dynamic areas between applications.
  6.  
  7. Compliance with the standard will enable your applications to be used with any
  8. other which also complies with the standard.
  9.  
  10. The Archive includes an example sprite viewing and painting program called
  11. !Spaint which conforms to the PCA standard. This program is provided as an
  12. example only. It has not gone through our usual bug-testing and quality control
  13. process and therefore should not be considered anything other than as an
  14. example of a very simple PCA implimentation.

  16. At the time of writing Composition, ProArt24 and Ovation Pro have PCA
  17. support. Other applications such as Top Model and Da Vinci will have support
  18. soon.

  21. Using the PCA in your programs
  22. ------------------------------
  23. You are invited to add the PCA standard to your programs and to create PCA
  24. 'applets'. However, before publishing or distributing (in any form) a program
  25. which makes use of the PCA standard you must first obtain a license to do so
  26. from Clares Micro Supplies.

  28. The license is currently free of charge. Licensing the PCA standard allows us
  29. to keep track of who is using it, inform them of changes to the standard and
  30. provide support in the case of a problem.

  32. PCA Logo
  33. --------
  34. The PCA logo (see !Spaint.Sprites22) may be used by licensed PCA developers
  35. to indicate PCA compliancy. Licensed developers must not use the logo to suggest
  36. any Clares approval or branding for their products.
