- 4 D) Polar Functions R=R(L), where L=angle.
- 4
- 4 The following facilities are available:-
- 4
- 4 1) Choosing your own function.
- 4 2) Plotting a second independent function on the same graph.
- 4 3) Choosing your own scaling of the axes.

- 4example the whole of the animal kingdom could be classified
- 4through Yes / No type questions. A highly recommended
- 4educational program that would fit in to the national curriculum

-
- 1{HBrownian}{JCDFS::PDCD_5.$.Education.A.Brownian}
- 4This is a simulation of the so called Brownian Motion. This
- 4phenomenon can be viewed for real by looking at smoke particles
- 4with a microscope. The smoke particles have to be illuminated
- 4from the side. They generally travel along in a straight line
- 4until they are hit by the invisible tiny air molecules. These
- 4are light, but move very fast, so they jolt the smoke in
- 4different directions when they actually collide.

- 1{HEscher}{JCDFS::PDCD_5.$.Education.B.Escher}
- 4The familiar tiling of a kitchen or bathroom wall is usually
- 4produced by placing square or rectangular tiles edge-to-edge and
- 4corner-to-corner over the wall. Many more interesting tilings can be
- 4formed by tiles of more complex shapes. Such tilings are produced by
- 4placing a shaped tile in a number of orientations, repetitively over
- 4a plane. For the tiles to fit together, only certain orientations of
- 4the tiles can be used, and they in turn constrain the allowed
- 4shapes. In spite of these restrictions, there are vast numbers of
- 4possible tilings which are really limited only by one's imagination.
- 4The Dutch artist M C Escher was the great pioneer and exploiter of
