  4. 1.  TCReader
  5. ------------
  6. !TCReader is an Archimedes port of Barry Childress' excellent DOS application of 
  7. the same name.   Its purpose in life is to compress text files (although it will 
  8. work with binary files as well), into a format which may be read by Barry's 
  9. Reader application for the Psion 3 palmtop computer.  This port requires 
  10. Risc-OS 3.1 or better to run.  A hard disc, whilst not essential, is highly 
  11. recommended.

  13. 2.  Shareware
  14. -------------
  15. This program is shareware.  That means that you may freely distribute the
  16. un-registered version, provided that you do not make a charge for it, and
  17. only distribute the complete set of files unaltered and intact.   You must 
  18. ensure that the registration number in the !Run file is set to 0.
  19. The toolbox modules  are copyright Acorn Computers Ltd. and are licenced
  20. only for use on the Acorn family of 32-bit RISC computers.  The compression
  21. algorithm is copyright Barry Childress.  The application shell is copyright
  22. Tony van der Hoff.

  24. You may use the unregistered software for a period of 30 days.   If, after
  25. that time you wish to continue using it, you must register it.

  40. after installation.

  42. The registration number is assigned to you personally, and may not be re-assigned.
  43. If you wish to re-distribute the software please ensure that the registration number 
  44. in the !Run file is set to 0.

  46. 3.  Installing TCReader
  47. -----------------------
  48. Assuming you have received this software in its archived form, you will need 
  49. to de-archive it using !SparkFS, or !Sparkplug.  Save the application directory
  50. to the place of your choice.

  52. 4.  Using TCReader
  53. ------------------
  54. Using the package is simplicity itself;  Double-click on the application directory
  55. to install it on the icon bar.  The unregistered version reminds you that it is 
  56. unregistered.  
  57. Drag the file(s) to be compressed to the icon bar (or to the main  window
  58. when it's open).  The main window will show the progress of the operation.
  59. When you have dragged all files to be compressed into the application, you
  60. may click on the 'Compress' button in the main window to initiate the
  61. compression process. Because of the nature of the port, this will not
  62. multi-task, but you are kept informed of the progress through the
  63. compression process.  
  64. If you decide to keep the compressed data, you may click on the 'Save'
  65. button, which pops up a standard  SaveAs dialogue box.  Drag your data
  66. wherever you want.  
  67. Clicking 'Discard' at any  time will abandon the work.
