  7. This software makes the Wimp of RISC OS 3.1x machines look more like that
  8. found on newer machines by adding outline fonts to the desktop and providing
  9. a Palette Utility replacement that has a RISC OS 3.5+ style mode picker plus
  10. much much more.

  12. Please read the !Help file in the !WimpPatch and !DeskCtrl applications and
  13. the "Quick Installation Guide" at the end of this file before use.

  15. Registering
  16. -----------

  18. This software is Shareware.
  19. You may use it for a trial period of 30 days. If, after this you decide you
  20. would like to continue using it then you are required to register.
  21. Registering evolves sending 5 UKP plus your name, address and required disc
  22. format (ie. 800k or 1600k) to me at:

  36. Benefits of registering
  37. -----------------------

  39. The registered version a sprite to be tiled on the window backgrounds like the
  40. windowmanager in RISC OS 3.5+. Different background colours can have different
  41. tiles and tiles are selected depending on the colour depth of the mode to
  42. provide optimum tiling speed.

  44. Supporting the package by registering will encourage me to develop the patch
  45. further. Possible additions are 3D menus and windows, open and closed
  46. directory sprites etc.

  48. Quick Instalation Guide
  49. -----------------------

  51. o Copy the !OutFiler and !WimpPatch applications out of the archive on to a
  52.   writable media such as a directory on your hard drive or a floppy disc with
  53.   at least 140k free.

  55. o Double click on the !OutFiler and !WimpPatch applications that you just
  56.   copied, this will generate two new files in the same directory.
  57.  
  58. o Load the two new files, "NewWimp" and "NewFiler" as well as "outlnwimp" from
  59.   the archive _before_ the desktop starts, eg. as part of a !Boot sequence.

  61. o Load !DeskCtrl when the patched desktop is running or as part of a !Boot
  62.   sequence.

  64. o That's all it is, now you will have outline fonts and a new way of changing
  65.   modes.
