  17. ~~~~~~
  18. If you followed the instalation instructions you 
  19. should get the !Multiboot window when you turn on
  20. your computer. You should also have a selection
  21. of !Boot files in he scripts directory. If not
  22. read the BootFiles help file.

  24. If everything is pear-shaped... 
  25.       
  26.      • The computer crashes
  27.      • The hard disc has been destroyed
  28.      • The printers run out of ink
  29.      • You've lost the latest 'AcornUser'
  30.      • !MultiBoot wont load
  31.      • It's several months until the next
  32.        season of Babylon5

  34. ...then Don’t panic! Try again or give me a ring.

  37. What does it do?
  38.  
  39. BITS ON THE MAIN WINDOW:

  42. Main white box: (should say 'Basic')
  43. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  44. This is where the name of the boot file to be used
  45. to setup the desktop goes. You can edit it by 
  46. clicking in the box and typing the name of 
  47. another file or.....

  49. Button next to central white box (arrow)

  51. Clicking here with any button produces a list of all
  52. the boot files in the scripts directory which is
  53. inside the !MultiBoot directory.

  55. Execute button
  56. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  57. This will run the boot file as specified in the
  58. white box. If the file cannot be found or no name
  59. is entered an error is created.

  61. Toggle Button (far right of title bar)

  64. Click on this to display and hide the message bar.

  66. MAIN MENU: (Opened when MENU is pressed over main window)

  70. Info        ⇨  Opens a window with really useful
  71.                information in.
  72. Legal stuff ⇨  Another great read.

  74. Help…          Opens the help file you choose
  75.                in the format you choose.

  77. Options…       Opens the 'Options' window where you
  78.                can configure the program (see below).
  79.  
  80. Show scripts   Opens the directory where the boot
  81.                files used to make up the menu are
  82.                kept. Useful if you want to add
  83.                another etc.
  84.                (This directory can be accessed by
  85.                holding down SHIFT and double
  86.                clicking on the !MultiBoot app.
  87.                Then double click on scripts to 
  88.                open it.)

  90. Execute…       Executes the boot file in the big white
  91.                box. (Same as the Execute button).

  93. Quit           Quits the application. (The program will
  94.                quit automatically when execute is seleceted).

  98. Options Window
  99. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  101. A window with several preferences that can be
  102. set and saved.
  103.  
  104. Default file: When the program loads, a file is in
  105.               the white bit, this is usually the
  106.               file 'Basic' which doesn't do
  107.               anything when it is loaded but is just
  108.               there as an example.
  109.               By clicking on the box next to the
  110.               white area a list of all the files
  111.               in the scripts directory. Clicking
  112.               on one will set it as the default 
  113.               file, so it's name will be in the
  114.               box when the program is next run.
  115.               (choose the file you will use most
  116.               often)
  117.  
  118. Comment:      Type anything you like in here and it
  119.               will be displayed in the mian window
  120.               when you load the program.
  121.               Default "Have a nice day!"
  122.  
  123. Quit on 
  124. Execute:      If this box is ticked the program
  125.               will quit when you click on Execute.
  126.               Untick the box to stop this happening
  127.               (If anyone finds a use for this let
  128.               me know!)

  132. Cancel:       Close the options window.

  134. Use:          Use the settings as they are.

  136. Save & Exit:  This will save the current settings
  137.               shown in the window (overwriting any
  138.               previous ones) in the Options file.
  139.               Any changes will not take effect until
  140.               the program is re-loaded.

  144. Keyboard shortcuts:

  147. The only one so far implimented is Escape which
  148. quits at any time.

  153. a lot (ie everytime you turn on your computer) then
  154. a donation towards the countless hours I spent
  155. slaving over a hot keyboard with 'Wimp Programming
  156. for all' in hand would be very much appreciated.

  165. The routine for creating a list of files in a
  166. directory was 'borrowed' from a program called
  167. '!DiscTree' by Martyn S. Lovell. It was on a
  168. public domain disc so it is legal (sort of).
  169.  
  170. If you read this Martyn: Please dont sue I haven't
  171. got much money and I'am trying to save up for a
  172. CD-ROM drive and !OvationPRO.
