  1. Boot Files
  2. ~~~~~~~~~~

  4. You can have up to 10 boot files to choose from at
  5. any time. 
  6.  
  7. To create your own first set up the desktop exactly
  8. as you want it. This can include:
  9.  
  10.        • A backdrop sprite
  11.        • Filer windows open (eg HardDisc root)
  12.        • Applications on the icon bar (alarm etc.)
  13.        • Memory allocations (ram disc, font cache)
  14.        • Files pinned to the pinboard
  15.

  18. Once you have set things up click with menu on the
  19. green acorn in the bottom right of the screen and
  20. select 'Desktop boot'. Enter a filename (not !Boot)
  21. and save it in the !MultiBoot scripts directory,
  22. by typing the following path into the box under
  23. the boot icon:

  25.           <multi$dir>.scripts.[my file name]
  26.  
  27.  DON'T put the  [ ] in.
  28.  DO put the < > in.
  29.  
  30.  
  31. Any new files you create wont appear on the list 
  32. until you re-load the program. You can delete, 
  33. rename or copy these files just as you would 
  34. with any others, and the menu will be updated.  
  35. Now you have some files re-load the program 
  36. so they will be on the menu.

  40. If you change where you keep an application you must
  41. alter any Multiboot script files that run it so that
  42. they know where to find it.

  44. NOTE: (NOT APPLICABLE TO RISCOS 3.5 AND GREATER)

  46. Some applications which use modules in the
  47. !System directory may not load if the !System
  48. directry has not been 'seen' by the filer. This
  49. may be a problem if you run applications from a
  50. boot file without opening the directory viewer
  51. of the root directory of your hard disc. To get
  52. round this problem include the following line in
  53. any boot files which casue a problem.

  55. Filer_Boot [IDEFS::HardDisc].$.!System
  56.            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  57. The bit in brackets [] should be replaced with the
  58. name of your hard disc. (As shown at the top of
  59. a directory viewer window).
