  4. First, the legal stuff....
  5. This application is FREEWARE. But it must not sold for a profit or included
  6. in an commerical program without our permission first.
  7. The user is personally responsible for any loss of data or any other damage
  8. caused due to the use of !Back_it.
  9.  
  10. This is just a wee backup program that was designed for use inhouse
  11. at Quantum Software. I thought others may like to use it. :-)
  12.  
  13. WHAT DOES IT DO?
  14. ----------------
  15. It copies files or directories to a preset 'backup' directory in a
  16. dated directory the first time in a day that it is run.
  17.  
  18. For example: If today was the 2ndApril then a directory called 02/04/96
  19. would be created within the BACKUP directory held within !Back_it and
  20. all files you told it to be backed up would be copied into '02/04/96'.
  21.  
  22. If the program is ran again in the same day then the files are NOT touched
  23. or backed up, but the current backed up directory will open instead.
  24.  
  25. Each day you use the computer it does this so you can keep a history of the
  26. files.

  28. Note1:
  29. To stop the number of backed up directories getting out of hand, !Back_it is
  30. preset to only hold 5 directories.
  31. You can reduce or increase this amount by altering the system variable in the
  32. !Run file of !Back_it.

  34. Note2:    
  35. You can also alter the preset path of where it stores the backed up files by
  36. altering a system variable in the !Run file of !Back_it..
  37. I uses this to point to 'ADFS::0.$', so that everytime in the morning when I
  38. switch on the computer it copies our accounts data to floppy disc.
  39. Very handy.

  42. WHY DO THIS?
  43. ------------
  44. Due to the way some people work they forget to take a current backup of vital
  45. programs, letters, etc. at the start of the day. This program ensures that
  46. this process it is not forgotten and no valuable files are lost!

  49. HOW DO I USE IT?
  50. ----------------
  51. OK, first place !Back_it in your bootup program so it will be ran each time you
  52. switch on the computer. If you've got a RiscPC or A7000 then simply place it in
  53. the !Boot.Choices.Boot.Tasks directory.

  55. Then open !Boot_it and double click on the 'objects' text file.
  56. Place in here the full pathnames of any files or directories you want to be
  57. backed up.
