- ReadMe for AKF52 module 0.01
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
- So, what is it?
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- No, not a white hole, it's a module that makes the low-res modes look a lot
- nicer on an AKF52 monitor (and very probably an AKF50 as well, but only
- having an AKF52 I wouldn't know. Hell, it should work on any multisync but
- since most people [including me] only have the one hi-res monitor I haven't
- been able to test it).
-
- Notes
- ~~~~~
- These modes are only really suitable for desktop use and for the odd
- non-multitasking proggy that uses a low res mode (eg. an adventure game).
- The sound may (or may not...) be too fast/high in the low-res modes. Sorry,
- this is a consequence of removing the huge borders. Also, anything that
- uses interrupt driven routines to switch the palette mid screen (games in
- particular) may cause strange colourings...
-
- Oh, so it won't work with games then. Bugger.
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Well, in theory it shouldn't work with most games. But in practice it does
- work with some, indeed it makes some *more* fun [because they're bigger and
- faster]. eg. Tertis fails (the bucket is off the bottom of the screen),
- Lemmings suffers from the palette problems, etc. However, Pandora's box
- is slicker and the screen looks *much* nicer, Nevryon looks excellent, Gods
- is superb (much more fun, faster, smoother [!]).
-
- Um, that's about it really.
-
- Just a quick note to say that I initially used !ModeEd that Beebug supply with
- their VIDC enhancer upgrade to design the modes.
