- Installing the new PC Card software
- -----------------------------------
-
- The new version of the PC Card software requires the use of an updated
- ARMDRV.DRV driver. In order to install this new driver, it will first be
- necessary to remove the existing ARMDRV.DRV driver and install the VGA 3.0
- driver. This can be achieved by running the Windows Setup application and
- choosing the 'Change System Settings' option.
-
- Once the VGA 3.0 video driver has been installed, quit Windows and the PC486
- application.
-
- Move the existing !PC486, !PCConfig applications and the Drivers directory
- to an area that will not be 'seen' by the filer when you next start your
- machine, preferably, to a floppy disc.
-
- Copy the new !PC486, !PCConfig and Drivers software onto your hard disc. Once
- this is done, reboot your machine.
-
- When the system has rebooted, run the new !PCConfig application and set the
- options you require. As some of the default configuration options and their
- format have changed, editing the config file in a text editor is NOT
- RECOMMENDED. In particular, the memory size is now quoted in megabytes and
- not kilobytes.
-
- Start the new !PC486 application and create an OEM setup disc as instructed
- in the Win_ReadMe file which can be found in the Drivers.Windows directory.
-
- Run Windows and start the Windows Setup application. Choose the 'Change
- System Settings' option and select the 'Other display (requires disk from
- OEM)...'.
-
- At this point, you will be prompted by Windows for the OEM setup disk. Follow
- the options to overwrite the existing ARMDRV.DRV driver. The next time you
- run Windows, the new ARMDRV.DRV driver will be used.
