  9. <P>This list is taken directly from the Imperial College archive, and has
  10. not been checked for accuracy.  Some of the headings are far from
  11. descriptive, but most should give an idea of what is contained within. 
  12. All the files are gzipped; once gunzipped they contain the original news
  13. article, which is likely to have a uuencoded file in it. Finally, the
  14. uuencoded file may also need to be unzipped (most likely using
  15. pkunzip)... </P>
  16.  
  17. <P>PC users will find that <A HREF =
  18. "http://www.winzip.com/winzip/">WinZip</A> (which works for all flavours
  19. of Windows) will extract the uuencoded file from the gzipped archive. 
  20. (Some people have had difficulty using WinZip with these files under
  21. Windows 3.1.  I think this may be because Windows cannot cope with these
  22. filenames.  If you do have difficulty, you may find that changing the name
  23. of the file before running WinZip on it should force WinZip to work.  I
  24. must say that I have not had any problems of this nature using Windows 3.1
  25. or Windows 95.)  <A HREF =
  26. "http://snappy.globalone.net/#Software">WinCode</A> is a Windows program
  27. for uuencoding and uudecoding.  Once decoded, you should be left with a
  28. usable file (which may be pkzipped - WinZip can deal with this too).</P>

  30. <p>Paul DuBois has written <a href =
  31. "http://www.primate.wisc.edu/people/dubois/psion/zip-files.html">some
  32. notes</a> for Mac users which should help them deal with zipfiles and
  33. uuencoding.</p>
  34.  
  35. <P>Most of these programs will find their way onto the <A HREF =
  36. "http://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/packages/psion/icdoc/">Psion archive</A> at
  37. Imperial College (if they haven't already), and you might find it easier
  38. to check there before going through the hoops necessary to extract them
  39. from these links.</P>
