  7.   This is the regularly posted list of archive servers that contain files
  8. related in any way to Acorn computers, i.e. the Atom, BBC, Electron,
  9. Archimedes, R-series, PocketBook, Risc PC and maybe some even rarer types
  10. of machines. Mainly it's about the Archimedes and Risc PC, though.
  11.

  20.   There is also a list with answers to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on the
  21. Acorn newsgroups. It is called the "Comp.Sys.Acorn FAQ List Posting", and the
  22. maintainer is Philip Banks <banks_p@kosmos.wcc.govt.nz>.

  24.   Up-to-date copies of this list, and of the FAQ, are, amongst others,
  25. available at the archive site rtfm.mit.edu (18.181.0.24). Please retrieve
  26. an up-to-date copy if you're reading this on CD-ROM or another non-volatile
  27. medium.
  28.   The name under which a FAQ is archived appears in the Archive-name line
  29. at the top of the article. This list is archived as acorn/archives, the FAQ
  30. has as name acorn/faq . There's also a mail server on that machine: if you
  31. want to retrieve the latest version of this list, send an e-mail message
  32. to mail-server@rtfm.mit.edu containing, without the quotes, the text
  33. "send usenet/news.answers/acorn/archives" in the message body.
  34.   This list is also available on the World Wide Web as

  38.   General information about FTP and ftpmail services can be found in
  39. "Anonymous FTP: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) List", available in all FAQ
  40. archives as ftp-list/faq .

  42.   This article lists the name of every interesting archive i know of, as well
  43. as the type of files it contains, its numeric address in the case of Internet
  44. ftp servers and Janet pads, and the email address of the maintainer, if known.
  45.   Below that follows a list of the directories to look for with a short
  46. description of their contents.
  47.  
  48.   Below the main list are two short sections which tell you how to use
  49. Internet ftp by e-mail (using the ftpmail service), and from Janet.
  50.  
  51.   When requesting files from servers, always try to use a server that is as
  52. near as possible to you. And keep in mind that the people running these things
  53. are doing you a favour, so please don't abuse their services.
