  5. !CMOS is a small program that allows the loading and saving of your CMOS
  6. settings. It uses the standard CMOS file format so files from other CMOS
  7. savers can be used (though not all as some use different file formats).

  11. !CMOS is PUBLIC DOMAIN. This means you can copy it and give your friends a
  12. copy aslong as you keep the following rules...
  13.  
  14. - Don't sell or charge for this software (PD Librarys can make a small
  15.   charge for discs postage etc.).
  16.  
  17. - No files contained are changed (apart from with virus killers to protect
  18.   the files).
  19.  
  20. - No files are removed or added ONLY the following files should be contained
  21.   within the !CMOS directory (and that includes '?From' files)...

  23.         !Boot, !Help, !HelpImage, !Run, !RunImage, !Sprites, Configs,
  24.         HelpTemps, ReadMe, Templates

  27. How to use !CMOS
  28. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  29. Clicking over the !CMOS icon once it has loaded and apeared on the iconbar
  30. will present you with a menu. Info and quit are the normal, Load and save
  31. are for working with the CMOS (loading and saving) and reset will reset the
  32. computer using the CMOS settings that are loaded.

  34. Saving your CMOS settings

  36. Once you have used the *Configure command to configure your computer as you
  37. require load !CMOS and click over the icon with menu (the middle mouse
  38. button). Now goto the "Save' option and go across th the right to the drag
  39. box. Now type in the file name you wish to call the file and drag the
  40. configs icon to a directory viewer where it will be saved or you can enter
  41. the full path name of a file and click on the OK icon if you want. Your CMOS
  42. settings are now saved.

  44. Loading your CMOS settings

  46. To load your CMOS settings you just have to load !CMOS and then doubble
  47. click on the Configs file. You will then be asked if you are sure, clicking
  48. on 'Cancel' will abort the load, clicking on .Load...' will load the file
  49. and write the data to your CMOS. After loading it is often a good idea to
  50. reset as some program might be upset by the change of CMOS configuration.

  52. Resetting your computer after loading new Configs
  53. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  54. You can either press the reset button or <Ctrl><Break> etc. or you can use
  55. the 'Reset' option from the iconbar menu. If you do this you will be asked
  56. to confirm your action incase you clicked on the option by accident.

  58. Storing your Configs files
  59. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  60. So you can keep all your Config files together there is a directory inside
  61. !CMOS which they can all be stored in. To open this directory simply load
  62. !CMOS and click on the icon with menu (the middle mouse button) and choose
  63. the 'Load' option. The directory will be opened. Alternativly you can open
  64. the Configs directory by clicking with select (the left mouse button) over
  65. the !CMOS icon.

  67. !CMOS - History
  68. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  69. 1.00 (23 Apr 92)        This, the first version, supported the loading and
  70.                         saving of Configs files. A directory for which could
  71.                         be opened by clicking on 'Load' or over the icon
  72.                         with select. A 'Reset' function was also added so
  73.                         the user could reset the computer but didn't have to
  74.                         like some CMOS savers.

  76. 1.01 (26 Apr 92)        This version updated by Sid. Now 'Load' has been
  77.                         changed to 'Open dir' because that's what it does.
  78.                         Save is now 'Save CMOS' because it looks nicer. Now
  79.                         if you don't enter a pathname in the save box and
  80.                         just click on OK then the file is saved into the
  81.                         !CMOS.Configs directory.

  83. 1.10 (12 Sept 92)       There is no longer a major bug in the program which
  84.                         puts the computer into mac emulation mode (crashes
  85.                         it) when you try to save a file. Unfortunately there
  86.                         is still no free sheep with the application but we
  87.                         are working on it ('cos we can't afford a table).

  90. Possible improvements comming to another version
  91. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  92. Below is a short list of improvements that could be added to !CMOS. If you
  93. have any ideas or suggestions that you would like to see in a later version
  94. of !CMOS please feel free to contact me at the address in the Info On SJPD
  95. window (from the iconbar info box).

  97. - Show the CMOS settings currently in CMOS
  98.  
  99. - Change various settings (ie some of the *Configure commands)
  100.  
  101. - Have a password protection on Configs files so only you can load them
