  14.           The copying restrictions listed in this file apply to any
  15.      individual, organization, user group, or business that charges ANY fee
  16.      for the distribution of the Shareware versions of the PC-FASTYPE
  17.      products produced by Trendtech Corporation.  PC-FASTYPE products and
  18.      their associated typing exercise files, documentation, and help files
  19.      are NOT in the public domain.  All programs and data files are
  20.      Copyright 1990 by Trendtech Corporation, Inc., Wayne, New Jersey,
  21.      U.S.A.  PC-FASTYPE is a trademark of Trendtech Corporation, Inc.
  22.      Distribution restriction rights are claimed under that copyright and
  23.      are outlined below.

  25.        - No organization may sell the Shareware versions of PC-FASTYPE

  36.           Vendor standards expected of distributors will be forwarded for
  37.      your  examination and agreement.  These standards are summarized in
  38.      this  file.  The vendor standards are based on those established for
  39.      vendor associate members of the Association of Shareware
  40.      Professionals.  ASP vendor members will be granted permission to
  41.      distribute PC-FASTYPE; if you are already a member of ASP, please
  42.      mention it in your request for distribution.

  44.           Vendors may only distribute the "Shareware Version" disks.  These
  45.      disks are created specifically for disk vendors, BBS distribution,
  46.      clubs, and resellers.  They can usually be identified by the words
  47.      "Shareware Version" on the initial opening screen, and/or a Shareware
  48.      message on the last screen.  Please note, these are NOT crippled
  49.      versions of the program.  The ONLY difference between the "Shareware
  50.      Version" disks and the fully registered version are the Shareware
  51.      encouragement screens and messages.

  57.      You may distribute PC-FASTYPE products on the following terms:

  59.      - PC-FASTYPE products,  when listed in vendors' catalogs,
  60.        advertisements, brochures, mailers, etc. must be named "PC-FASTYPE"
  61.        and not some other pseudonym like "Typing Tutor", "Touchtype",
  62.        "Typing Teacher", or just "Fastype".  Use of any other name than
  63.        "PC-FASTYPE" will constitute cause for revocation of vendor's
  64.        distribution rights.

  67.                     PC-FASTYPE/CGA - Typing Tutorial
  68.                     PC-FASTYPE/MONO - Typing Tutorial

  70.      - PC-FASTYPE/CGA, when listed in vendor's catalogs, advertisements,
  71.        brochures, mailers, etc. must include the requirement for color
  72.        graphics, usually expressed as "requires CGA".

  74.      - PC-FASTYPE/MONO, when listed in vendor's catalogs, advertisements,
  75.        brochures, mailers, etc. may optionally state it is the MONOCHROME
  76.        version of PC-FASTYPE/CGA and will run on a PC equipped with ANY
  77.        kind of monitor.

  79.      - PC-FASTYPE products may NOT be sold as part of some other more
  80.        inclusive package without the express written permission of
  81.        Trendtech Corporation.
  82.  
  83.      - PC-FASTYPE products must not be distributed with other Shareware or
  84.        public domain programs on the same floppy disk without permission
  85.        from Trendtech Corp.  However, PC-FASTYPE may be included in
  86.        libraries sold on CD-ROM disks.

  88.      - Under no conditions will PC-FASTYPE products be "rented" or leased
  89.        to others.

  91.      - Printed copies of the exercise files and User Guide may not be
  92.        distributed in any form without a license from Trendtech
  93.        Corporation.
  94.  
  95.      - Any distribution of PC-FASTYPE products over bulletin boards and/or
  96.        national  telecommunication services will be limited to distributing
  97.        a single archived file containing the contents of the entire
  98.        distribution disk and NO charge above the standard charge for
  99.        connect time will be allowed. See SYSOP.DOC for more information.

  101.      - These disks replace all previous versions. All vendors who received
  102.        this update directly from the author have ninety (90) days to
  103.        discontinue distributing older versions.

  109.      REGISTRATION:
  110.           The SINGLE-USER Registration Fee for PC-FASTYPE is $25.00 in U.S.
  111.      Funds.  Shipping and Handling is an additional $3.00 for domestic
  112.      customers, $5.00 for Canada customers, and $10.00 for overseas
  113.      customers.  Payment may be with VISA or MASTERCARD, postal money
  114.      order, and checks, in which the amount must be expressed in U.S. Funds
  115.      and drawn on a U.S. Bank.  Site licenses and Right-to-copy licenses
  116.      are also available.  Authorized Purchase Orders will be accepted for
  117.      all licenses. Write to Trendtech for General Licensing Provisions and
  118.      fee schedules.

  177.      The following is a summary of ASP vendor standards.  This summary is
  178.      just that, a summary, and is not to be taken as a statement of the
  179.      entire set of ASP standards.

  182.      Advertising:
  183.  
  184.        All vendor advertisements and brochures must state that "Shareware
  185.      programs require separate payment to authors if found useful."  This
  186.      statement must immediately follow the price or be tied to the price
  187.      via an asterisk.

  190.      Catalogs:
  191.  
  192.        Vendors will attempt to educate users on the nature of Shareware.
  193.      The  following points must be covered in any catalog of disks:
  194.  
  195.        -  The fee paid to the vendor is a copying and distribution charge
  196.           and does not cover the cost of the program itself.
  197.  
  198.        -  If the user finds a Shareware program to be of use, he/she is
  199.           expected to send the registration fee to the author.
  200.  
  201.        -  Registration entitles the user to various rights and benefits
  202.           (depending on the author).  These range from the legal right to
  203.           continue using the software, to printed documentation and/or
  204.           higher levels of service.

  210.      Distribution:

  212.        -  Vendors will respect the copyright and all distribution
  213.           restrictions made by individual authors, usually found in the
  214.           file VENDOR.DOC [this file] on the disk.

  216.        -  Vendors will provide a written notice covering the three concepts
  217.           above with all Shareware programs shipped.  If disks are pre-
  218.           packaged, the notice must be on a visible part of the package.
  219.  
  220.        -  Vendors will not change or delete ANY files supplied with the
  221.           program unless authorized by the author.  Small additions
  222.           designed to assist the user may be added if the author does not
  223.           specifically prohibit such action.

  225.        -  Vendors agree to stop distributing a program, including earlier
  226.           versions, if requested by the author.

  228.           Again, the above is a SUMMARY of the ASP vendor standards.  In
  229.      order to distribute PC-FASTYPE products you must agree to abide by
  230.      these standards whether you are an ASP member or not.  If you are

  240.      vendor if you have not already done so.  The ASP vendor member program
  241.      reduces the workload for both authors and vendors alike, and helps
  242.      give customers confidence that reasonable standards are met in the
  243.      distribution of Shareware products.

  247.           To those organizations given permission to distribute PC-FASTYPE
  248.      products, Trendtech Corporation will forward a Vendor Master
  249.      Distribution disk.  Automatic updates will be provided to
  250.      organizations when registrations can be traced to that organization.

  252.      case basis.
