Scott Dafoe Ziegler is an artist. After studies at the University of Western Ontario he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and English Literature.
Scope and content
The collection consists of a calendar produced by the artist, entitled "Vancouver A.D." with thirteen images in color Xerox on cardstock depicting various demolitions in Vancouver, 21.5 x 28 cm, 1997, as well as two pairs of work gloves, beige and black striped, and thirty business cards intended by the artist for viewers to take away.
Note
The artist observed that "'Vancouver A.D.' might as well be The Inaugural 'Demolition Calendar' of Vancouver. There is beauty in dispersal and destruction, and the camera isolates the transient display and dignity of old buildings, as sites slip under shovel. In the viewer's hands, and with time to linger over the details, one may extract a personal level of meaning beneath the contradictory nature of a Demo Calendar as posed by these 13 Xeroxed slides. The work gloves in box will help/hinder entry into the project. Hardhats are optional. Copies available on request."
