Mai Swan is an artist born in 1944 in Estonia. She studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver.
Scope and content
The collection consists of five items of textual material, including: a manuscript note written on papyrus, three manuscript scrolls, a copy of the "Rams Horn Newsletter," No. 150 July 1997, a folder containing "Snippets of Research," and a folder containing "Political Documents."
Note
The artist states: "The information has been accumulated over the past three years. It includes phrases that I find provocative for my own philosophy and research. My art is a random process of adding layers of organic material on top of each other. The materials are my collaborators. As they flow and interact they reveal their secrets. The result is a relief work which is mounted on the wall. This direct method of working allows me to express my emotions and philosophical views."
