  8. We recommend that all users read through this file first,
  9. before attempting to install or run WorldTime 2.0a.
  10.  
  11. Users new to WorldTime should also read through the ASCII
  12. text file, WTIME20.TXT, which contains more detailed program
  13. information.

  16. INTRODUCTION
  17. ------------
  18. WorldTime for Windows is an easy-to-use world clock utility
  19. for the Microsoft Windows operating environment.  WorldTime
  20. allows you to track the current time in over 150 metropolitan
  21. and geographic locations around the world.

  24. VIDEO MODE NOTES
  25. ----- ---- -----
  26. WorldTime for Windows (Version 2.0a) requires a minimum
  27. EGA-resolution, and will display adequately under that
  28. 640x350 standard.  However, we strongly recommend running
  29. WorldTime at standard VGA (640x480) or Super-VGA (800x600).

  31. WorldTime 2.0a has been thoroughly tested on a variety of
  32. systems equipped with a number of different video card and
  33. driver combinations.
  34.  
  35. We generally recommend making use of the VGA and Super-VGA
  36. drivers supplied with Microsoft Windows; in testing, these
  37. video drivers actually outperform many third-party drivers
  38. supplied with VGA and Super-VGA graphics cards.
  39.  
  40. If you are making use of a third-party video driver, you
  41. can greatly reduce the likelihood of display problems by
  42. checking to make sure you have installed the latest version
  43. of your driver.  Most video card companies routinely update
  44. their video driver libraries to keep pace with emerging
  45. standards or (in the case of Windows 3.1) new releases of
  46. the host environment.  These updates are usually made
  47. available to customers via electronic bulletin board.

  49. Although version 2.0a corrects all known problems with the
  50. use of higher resolutions (e.g., 1024x768), we generally
  51. do not recommend running WorldTime at resolutions greater
  52. than 800x600.

  60. The WorldTime 2.0a package consists of five files:

  69. READ ALL ABOUT IT
  70. ---- --- ----- --
  71. Product documentation is contained in the WTIME20.TXT file.  This
  72. is an ASCII text file which can be easily loaded and viewed with
  73. Windows Notepad, Windows Write, or any word processor or text
  74. editor that supports the ASCII text format.  This file includes a
  75. program description, instructions, and technical notes.

  77. Hypertext program documentation is supplied in the WTIME20.HLP
  78. file.  This is a Windows Help System format file, which can be
  79. loaded and viewed with Windows Help -- and is directly accessed
  80. from within WorldTime via the menu bar "Help/Contents" command.

  82. Both of these files contain all the information you need to
  83. install and run this program.  The Windows Help System includes
  84. the provision for easily printing any topic or topics from the
  85. WTIME20.HLP file.  This handy feature can be used to turn your
  86. "manual on disk" into hard copy for future reference.

  89. QUICK & DIRTY START-UP
  90. ----- - ----- --------
  91. The best thing you can do before attempting to install or run
  92. WorldTime for Windows is to read this file in its entirety, and
  93. then read the WTIME20.TXT file as well.  However, you may want
  94. to get "up and running" right away.  If this is the case, and
  95. you are an experienced computer user comfortable with DOS
  96. commands, the information in this section might be all you need
  97. to get started...
  98.  
  99. Again, once WorldTime is installed, you can always refer back
  100. to the WTIME20.TXT file -- or make use of WorldTime's help
  101. file, WTIME20.HLP via the Windows Help System (accessed from
  102. WorldTime's menu bar "Help/Contents" command).

  104. First, we recommend that you make a backup copy of the master
  105. program disk(s) before installing or running WorldTime.
  106. We also recommend that this program be installed to, and run
  107. from, a hard disk.
  108.  
  109. To get this program loaded and running with a minimum of
  110. fuss, simply create a new directory or subdirectory on your
  111. hard disk (e.g., C:\WTIME or C:\WINAPPS\WTIME) and copy the
  112. entire contents of your master disk(s) to that new directory.
  113.  
  114. From Microsoft Windows, you can run this program from File
  115. Manager by "double-clicking" the WTIME20.EXE file entry or by
  116. selecting the WTIME20.EXE file entry and issuing the menu bar
  117. "File/Run" command.

  119. Of course, WorldTime's icon can be easily installed into a
  120. new or existing Program Manager group for quick, one-step
  121. running.

  124. PRODUCT REGISTRATION

  126. WorldTime for Windows (version 2.0a) is shareware, not freeware.
  127.  
  128. Complete registration information, including printable
  129. registration forms, is provided in the WTIME20.HLP file shipped
  130. with the shareware version of WorldTime.  The .HLP file is
  131. accessed via the Windows Help System -- menu bar command
  132. "Help/Contents."  Registration information is also provided in
  133. the WTIME20.TXT ASCII text file.
