- ABOUT THE DEMO DISK
-
- The demo disk contains a fully functional copy of the Upper
- Deck Editor. You can edit, save and print files of any size.
- You can change the editor's keyboard assignments and customize
- the editor to suit your personal taste. You can even save the
- editor's configuration from one session to the next.
-
- The only restriction on the demo version of the editor is that
- it may be used for a limited time only. The expiration date of
- your demo copy is shown at the bottom of the message box
- displayed when the editor is first started. If the system date
- on your computer is later than the expiration date shown, the
- editor will not run.
-
- The only other difference between the demo version of the
- editor and a registered copy is the message box displayed when
- the demo is first started. Because of this message box, the
- demo version takes longer to start.
-
-
- INSTALLING THE DEMO
-
- To install the demo version of the editor, simply insert the
- demo disk in drive A (or B), select Run from the Program
- Manager's File menu, and enter
-
- a:setup
-
- in the Command Line edit field. You will be prompted to
- specify a directory for the editor. The setup program will
- create the specified directory, copy the necessary files from
- the demo disk, and install an icon for the editor in the
- Program Manager.
-
- If you prefer to install the editor manually, the only required
- files are ude.exe and ude.hlp. It is recommended that the
- editor be installed in its own directory. The editor stores
- configuration and autosave files in the directory that contains
- ude.exe.
-
- It is also possible to run the editor directly from the demo
- disk. Insert the demo disk in drive A, select Run from the
- Program Manager's File menu, and enter
-
- a:ude
-
- in the Command Line edit field. Since the editor stores
- autosave files in its home directory (in this case on the
- diskette), it is not practical to use the autosave feature if
- you are running the editor directly from the demo disk.
