  1.                    ABOUT THE DEMO DISK

  3. The demo disk contains a fully functional copy of the Upper
  4. Deck Editor.  You can edit, save and print files of any size.
  5. You can change the editor's keyboard assignments and customize
  6. the editor to suit your personal taste.  You can even save the
  7. editor's configuration from one session to the next.

  9. The only restriction on the demo version of the editor is that
  10. it may be used for a limited time only.  The expiration date of
  11. your demo copy is shown at the bottom of the message box
  12. displayed when the editor is first started.  If the system date
  13. on your computer is later than the expiration date shown, the
  14. editor will not run.

  16. The only other difference between the demo version of the
  17. editor and a registered copy is the message box displayed when
  18. the demo is first started.  Because of this message box, the
  19. demo version takes longer to start.

  22.                    INSTALLING THE DEMO

  24. To install the demo version of the editor, simply insert the
  25. demo disk in drive A (or B), select Run from the Program
  26. Manager's File menu, and enter
  27.

  30. in the Command Line edit field.  You will be prompted to
  31. specify a directory for the editor.  The setup program will
  32. create the specified directory, copy the necessary files from
  33. the demo disk, and install an icon for the editor in the
  34. Program Manager.

  36. If you prefer to install the editor manually, the only required
  37. files are ude.exe and ude.hlp.  It is recommended that the
  38. editor be installed in its own directory.  The editor stores
  39. configuration and autosave files in the directory that contains
  40. ude.exe.

  42. It is also possible to run the editor directly from the demo
  43. disk.  Insert the demo disk in drive A, select Run from the
  44. Program Manager's File menu, and enter

  48. in the Command Line edit field.  Since the editor stores
  49. autosave files in its home directory (in this case on the
  50. diskette), it is not practical to use the autosave feature if
  51. you are running the editor directly from the demo disk.
