  13.     Here's the deal.  You send a sawbuck (ten dollars American) and a
  14. proper name to the address below.  Upon receiving the consideration you will
  15. be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired.  If you want to use a
  16. credit card, the fee is fifteen dollars.  The return message will contain an
  17. identification number.

  27.     The name and ID number are entered into the nagware dialog box.
  28. The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
  29. sits in the "windows" sub-tree.  "Notebook" will run without the nagware
  30. display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
  31. The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.

  33.     The matching name and ID number will work in possible minor version
  34. number upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to "Notebook".

  37. *    The first "beta" version was incomplete and should be discarded.

  39.     Beta2 was correct but contained a non-fatal unsaved document print
  40. bug that was fixed in the beta3 version.

  42.     Beta3 added word wrap and a page margin setup facility.

  44.     Beta4 added case sense selective searches and command line parameter
  45. associative file opening.

  47.     Beta5 added title and page number output to the print spooler,
  48. searches that scan the entire document in one operation to go to a line
  49. number and/or find text, and a direct go to end of document feature.

  51.     Beta6 added a replace feature to be used with search.  Also an
  52. intermittently fatal bug in backward searches through huge documents has been
  53. fixed.  And a non-fatal bug in go to end of a huge document when in wordwrap,
  54. has been fixed.

  56.     Version 1.0 added a file run with association menuitem, a modifiable
  57. title output to the print spooler, and proper size and initial position of
  58. the position box on an 800x600 display.
  59.  
  60.     Version 1.1 added default filespec enhancement to the Open and Run
  61. dialog boxes.  Also if the display driver sets a larger height for the menu
  62. bar to accommodate 8514 fonts, then larger (26 pixels high) pushbutton
  63. menuitems are shown.  A non-fatal bug of line count after a huge forward
  64. search was fixed.  Finally, a powerful automatic find and replace function
  65. was added.

  67.     Version 1.2 fixed a non-fatal bug in the automatic replace all
  68. command.  An icon file was included for better contrast on monochrome
  69. displays.
  70.  
  71.     Version 1.3 fixed a fatal memory allocation bug that showed up when
  72. operating in stressed disk swapping situations.  Also the maximum number of
  73. characters on a line is limited to 1024.

  75.     Version 1.4 added a file merge function to allow the insertion of a
  76. text file anywhere into the current document.  File open and file merge can
  77. insert carriage return line feed pairs as necessary to format the document.

  79.     Version 1.5 fixed a fatal local memory allocation bug that showed
  80. up if Notebook was minimized when in word wrap mode with a file larger than
  81. 20 kilobytes loaded.  Also a non-fatal global allocation bug on associative
  82. file open in word wrap mode was fixed to allow a file of any size to be
  83. completely read in word wrap mode.

  85.     Version 1.6 added three features.  Also a non-fatal backward scroll
  86. display bug was fixed.  Documents sent to the print spooler became word
  87. wrapped to fit inside the margins.  Tab-stop spacing became user selectable.
  88. A bookmark function was added.
  89.  
  90.     Notebk17.zip adds these features.  The editing of control codes is
  91. now possible.  Selected text from the main edit window can be copied into the
  92. search or replace buffers with a single keystroke or two mouse clicks.  Also
  93. scrolling through text fields can be done by keystroke.
  94.  
  95.     The constructive feedback from users determined what features were
  96. to be added to this version.  Thank you.

  98.     Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp, an
  99. icon file for black and white displays called notebkbw.ico, and this file
  100. called noteinfo.  This is Notebook version 1.7 which has the label "1.7"
  101. right aligned on the menu bar.
