- COMPUTERS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN USED FOR TESTING PROGRAMS
-
- It's my policy to try to test programs on several systems whenever possible.
- Here are some of the computers which may have been used to test the program(s)
- you're interested in. Whether or not these systems were actually used for
- tests can be found in the document file for the program you're using (if I
- wrote it) or in PROGRAMS.DOC. If you don't have PROGRAMS.DOC, you can find it
- on one of my Support Disks. For instance, if you want to know the results of
- testing programs on the Tandy 2000, you would want the file PROGRAMS.DOC from
- the Tandy 2000 Support Disk.

- THE COMPUTERS IN QUESTION
-
- AMSTRAD PC1512 SD: This system has an 8086 CPU, a composite monochrome
- monitor, and CGA which can access 16 shades of gray (or color with a color
- monitor) with a resolution of up to 640 X 200. The system originally came
- with 512K RAM, which I've upgraded to 640K. It came with a single 5.25", 360K
- drive. A second internal drive of the same type was later added, and I've
- installed a 49Mb hard disk card. Operating system is MS-DOS 3.20. This line
- has been discontinued. This utility had no problems running on the Amstrad.
-
-
- PACKARD BELL PACK-MATE: This system has an 80286 CPU and a color VGA monitor,
- which generates 640 X 480 pixels resolution. Drives are one 40Mb internal
- hard disk, one 5.25", 1.2Mb drive, and one 3.5", 1.44 Mb drive. Operating
- system is MS-DOS 3.30. This utility had no problems running on the Packard
- Bell.
-
- TANDY 2000: The Tandy Model 2000 uses an 80186 central processing unit, and
- can accept both monochrome and color monitors. The unit I'm testing has a
- color monitor with CGA graphics; the color guns have been somehow damaged, and
- the colors are not quite correct. However, the color is sufficient for most
- purposes, and the unit is still in minimal use. This unit has a detached
- keyboard, which is neither identical nor fully compatible with the IBM
- keyboards. It has two 720K, 5.25" floppy drives, but drive b: is not
- currently operational. There is also an external 10Mb hard drive installed.
-
- This system is using MS-DOS 2.11.02; the operating system has been tested on
- IBM compatibles, and will not boot. As far as I know, it will only operate on
- the 2000. It includes GW-BASIC 2.02, Tandy release 2.02.01. Many of the
- utilities included with the operating system will function on IBM compatibles.
- On my Amstrad, however, they will only function when an IBM-compatible version
- of MS-DOS 2.11 is booted.
