- DESCRIPTION:
-
- Many of the smaller general aviation airports have what is called
- and APAP system, sometimes known as a "poor man's VASI." APAP stands for
- Approach Path Alignment Panel. The APAP is made of three orange panels, and
- placed next to the runway. It gives glideslope information similar to a VASI.
- Here's how it works - there are three orange lines to the left of the
- runway. By looking at the lines, you can determine your glideslope.
-
- ---- <=== Above Glide Path

-
-
- ------------ <=== On Glide Path
-
-
- ---- ---- <==== Below Glide Path
- ----
-
- When flying an APAP approach, remember that APAP is not as accurate
- as VASI. When you are off the glideslope in FS4 APAP approaches, the APAP
- will appear to "tick" between the on glidepath position and the high/low
- position. This should be your indication that you are off the glidepath.
-
- USAGE:
-
- To place a APAP at your airport with SEE04, use the following commands
- in your .DAT file.
-
- NORTH, XXXXX.XXXX
- EAST, YYYYY.YYYY
- HEADING, ZZZ.ZZ
- MACRO, APAP
-
- X and Y are the North/East coordinates that are parallel to the
- desired touchdown point on the runway, and the heading is the same as the
- runway heading.
