  4. Mossman's Spelltester (MST) is intended to allow preschool
  5. children and above the chance to interact with the PC and provide
  6. an educational enjoyable learning experience.  The child should
  7. initially be helped throughout by an adult or experienced
  8. computer operator.  Later as the child becomes familiar with the
  9. program he/she may play more independently if you like.

  11. You'll need a Soundblaster card and the Soundblaster SBtalker
  12. software to play since the program utilizes the text to speech
  13. capabilities of the Soundblaster card.  MST supports  a mouse as
  14. long as the appropriate mouse driver is loaded.

  48. YOU SHOULD PLACE ALL OF THE ABOVE FILES IN THE SAME DIRECTORY
  49. OR THE PROGRAM MAY STOP.

  51. To run MST you first need to install Sbtalker which is provided
  52. with your Soundblaster software.  If you've previously used the
  53. install or setup feature of the Soundblaster software then you
  54. should go to the /SB directory and type SBTALK <enter>.  This
  55. should load the SBTalk program necessary for the text to speech
  56. conversion used by the MST program.  To then run MST, go to the
  57. directory that contains MST and type MST <enter>.

  59. The program works like this:
  60. the user enters his/her name and then selects either the easy or
  61. hard words, then should select start from the pull down menu
  62. options, during the spell test one may stop at a PRESS ANY KEY
  63. PROMPT by selecting F5, you can listen to the word again by
  64. selecting F6, or have the word spelled for you after a mistake by
  65. hitting F10.

  67. Once one bank of words (easy or hard) is used up you may restart
  68. or change to the other bank of words.  The user is encouraged to
  69. make new banks of words (see README.2nd).

  72. MST may be copied, uploaded or distributed as long as it is not
  73. included in any commercial software/hardware packages without the
  74. consent of the author.  This program was developed and tested by
  75.  
  76. Dr. Brad Moss,M.D.,A.B.U. for my children's enjoyment.  It worked
  77. for me and I make no guarantees how it will work for you.
