  6.                          What's New In This Version
  7.  
  8. Read the NETWORK.TXT file to learn more about the new and exciting
  9. SuperMenu for Novell Networks.  It is the best and easiest to use
  10. network menu anywhere!
  11.         
  12.         This file lists all changes from Version 2.1 to Version 2.11 .
  13. The manual has not been rewritten yet so these changes are not reflected
  14. in the manual at all.
  15.  
  16.         This is majorly a maintenance release.  It fixes reported bugs,
  17. and makes some minor changes.  There are no functionality changes or
  18. major enhancements.
  19.  
  20.         Bug Fixed in FileTree Feature:
  21.  
  22.         The FileTree feature usually missed the first executable file
  23. available in a directory structure.  This led users to believe that a
  24. file which was actually on the hard drive did not exist.  This bug has
  25. been corrected and all files now appear on the FileTree.

  27.         Features Disabled for Monochrome Users:
  28.  
  29.         SuperMenu was never meant to be used on monochrome systems.
  30. However, many users have requested that SuperMenu be available for
  31. these systems.  Those who have installed the previous versions of
  32. SuperMenu on monochrome systems know that it will work until the
  33. screen blanker kicks in.  At that point, SuperMenu would bomb out.
  34. The problem is due to the way in which SuperMenu does screen updates.
  35. This method only works on color systems.  In order to satisfy users
  36. with monochrome systems, the SuperMenu features which use these 
  37. non-monochrome-capable routines have been disabled.  They are the
  38. on-line help system, the screen saver feature, the FileTree feature,
  39. the DirecTree feature, and Batch File Editor.  Although these are
  40. nice to have, they do not limit the functionality of SuperMenu.

  42.         Bug fixed in Install Routine:

  44.         The install routine would not properly configure SuperMenu
  45. for gray scale (monochrome) systems.  This has been corrected.

  47.         Help Now Shows Entire Manual:
  48.  
  49.         The on-line help system did not previously show the entire
  50. SuperMenu manual.  This was done to speed load time and to decrease
  51. amount of RAM needed by the PC.  As today's PCs become faster and
  52. have plenty of RAM, this limitation has been removed.  The entire
  53. SuperMenu manual is now viewable through the on-line help system.

  55.         Screen Blanker Shows Time:

  57.         If using the screen blanker in the "bouncing box" mode, the
  58. time of day will be displayed in the box.

  67.      This file lists all the improvements from Version 2.0 to Version 2.1 .

  71.      UPDATE NOTICE:  If you are already using a previous version of SuperMenu
  72.                      and would like to install this update, simply run the
  73.                      INSTALL program.  It will sense that you are already
  74.                      using SuperMenu and will ask you if you would like to
  75.                      keep your current menu structures.  You can also use
  76.                      the /EASY option as explained below.

  78.      (P)revious Menu

  80.      You can now back up from submenus sequentially instead of only to the
  81. Main Menu.  The Escape key will still return you directly to the Main Menu.
  82. The P key will back you up one submenu at a time.

  85.      <F6> Insert Line in Menu Modification
  86.  
  87.      While in menu modification, you may now insert a blank line at any 
  88. location.  Simply move the cursor to the first column of the line where
  89. you would like to insert a blank line and press the F6 key.  This will
  90. only work if there is space for the rest of the choices to slide down
  91. one location.

  94.      INSTALL /EASY    Command Line Switch
  95.  
  96.      When running the Install program you may type   INSTALL /EASY   to
  97. skip the two questions regarding your autoexec.bat file.  Both questions
  98. will be answered automatically with a "Y".  This option is recommended for
  99. beginners, as well as anyone else who wants SuperMenu to come up each time
  100. the computer is turned on.  NOTE:  If you are installing a new version of
  101. SuperMenu to a hard drive already containing SuperMenu,  the /EASY option
  102. will cause INSTALL to assume that you want to keep your current menu
  103. structures.

  106.      Configuration Program
  107.  
  108.      This version introduces a new companion program called CONFIG.EXE .
  109. This program will allow you to configure parameters in SuperMenu, such as
  110. default color scheme, Screen Saver delays, and others.  After installing
  111. SuperMenu you can either run it as is, or you can go to the C:\SUPRMENU 
  112. directory and run the CONFIG program.  The best thing to do is to put it
  113. in as a menu choice.  Simply type it into the Menu Modification screen as
  114. shown below.

  121.      Faster Help File Loading

  123.      Old users will notice a drastic improvement in load time for the help
  124. file.  Gone are the long "PLEASE WAIT" messages.  Help is now available
  125. practically instantaneously on all processors.

  128.      Improved Manual

  130.      Registered users will receive a comprehensive manual including all these
  131. changes, as well as detailed instructions on the CONFIG program.

  134.      Manual Omission
  135.  
  136.      The instruction manual makes no mention to the Screen Saver feature.
  137. This was accidentally left out.  All versions of SuperMenu include a screen
  138. saving black out feature.  After 5 minutes of inactivity, the screen will 
  139. black out, and you will see a small SuperMenu box jump around on the
  140. screen.  This is done to prevent images from burning into your screen.  This
  141. new version of SuperMenu (2.1) allows you to change the delay from 1 to 15
  142. minutes by using the CONFIG program.

  147.      Registered users may request to receive their registered version on
  148. 3.5" disks instead of 5.25" disks.

  154.      SuperMenu continues to be a fully working shareware version of the
  155. registered product.  It does everything the registered version does, and
  156. is not crippled or time delayed in any way, shape or form.
