-
- Version 2.11
- (January 5th, 1992)
-
- What's New In This Version
-
- Read the NETWORK.TXT file to learn more about the new and exciting
- SuperMenu for Novell Networks. It is the best and easiest to use
- network menu anywhere!
-
- This file lists all changes from Version 2.1 to Version 2.11 .
- The manual has not been rewritten yet so these changes are not reflected
- in the manual at all.
-
- This is majorly a maintenance release. It fixes reported bugs,
- and makes some minor changes. There are no functionality changes or
- major enhancements.
-
- Bug Fixed in FileTree Feature:
-
- The FileTree feature usually missed the first executable file
- available in a directory structure. This led users to believe that a
- file which was actually on the hard drive did not exist. This bug has
- been corrected and all files now appear on the FileTree.
-
- Features Disabled for Monochrome Users:
-
- SuperMenu was never meant to be used on monochrome systems.
- However, many users have requested that SuperMenu be available for
- these systems. Those who have installed the previous versions of
- SuperMenu on monochrome systems know that it will work until the
- screen blanker kicks in. At that point, SuperMenu would bomb out.
- The problem is due to the way in which SuperMenu does screen updates.
- This method only works on color systems. In order to satisfy users
- with monochrome systems, the SuperMenu features which use these
- non-monochrome-capable routines have been disabled. They are the
- on-line help system, the screen saver feature, the FileTree feature,
- the DirecTree feature, and Batch File Editor. Although these are
- nice to have, they do not limit the functionality of SuperMenu.
-
- Bug fixed in Install Routine:
-
- The install routine would not properly configure SuperMenu
- for gray scale (monochrome) systems. This has been corrected.
-
- Help Now Shows Entire Manual:
-
- The on-line help system did not previously show the entire
- SuperMenu manual. This was done to speed load time and to decrease
- amount of RAM needed by the PC. As today's PCs become faster and
- have plenty of RAM, this limitation has been removed. The entire
- SuperMenu manual is now viewable through the on-line help system.
-
- Screen Blanker Shows Time:
-
- If using the screen blanker in the "bouncing box" mode, the
- time of day will be displayed in the box.
-
-
- Version 2.1
-
- What's New In This Version
-
-
-
- This file lists all the improvements from Version 2.0 to Version 2.1 .
- The manual has not been rewritten yet so these features are not reflected
- in the manual at all.
-
- UPDATE NOTICE: If you are already using a previous version of SuperMenu
- and would like to install this update, simply run the
- INSTALL program. It will sense that you are already
- using SuperMenu and will ask you if you would like to
- keep your current menu structures. You can also use
- the /EASY option as explained below.
-
- (P)revious Menu
-
- You can now back up from submenus sequentially instead of only to the
- Main Menu. The Escape key will still return you directly to the Main Menu.
- The P key will back you up one submenu at a time.
-
-
- <F6> Insert Line in Menu Modification
-
- While in menu modification, you may now insert a blank line at any
- location. Simply move the cursor to the first column of the line where
- you would like to insert a blank line and press the F6 key. This will
- only work if there is space for the rest of the choices to slide down
- one location.
-
-
- INSTALL /EASY Command Line Switch
-
- When running the Install program you may type INSTALL /EASY to
- skip the two questions regarding your autoexec.bat file. Both questions
- will be answered automatically with a "Y". This option is recommended for
- beginners, as well as anyone else who wants SuperMenu to come up each time
- the computer is turned on. NOTE: If you are installing a new version of
- SuperMenu to a hard drive already containing SuperMenu, the /EASY option
- will cause INSTALL to assume that you want to keep your current menu
- structures.
-
-
- Configuration Program
-
- This version introduces a new companion program called CONFIG.EXE .
- This program will allow you to configure parameters in SuperMenu, such as
- default color scheme, Screen Saver delays, and others. After installing
- SuperMenu you can either run it as is, or you can go to the C:\SUPRMENU
- directory and run the CONFIG program. The best thing to do is to put it
- in as a menu choice. Simply type it into the Menu Modification screen as
- shown below.
-
- APPLICATION NAME: | DRIVE: | DIRECTORY: | FILE NAME:
- -----------------------|-----------|--------------------|-------------
- Configure SuperMenu | C | SUPRMENU | CONFIG
-
-
- Faster Help File Loading
-
- Old users will notice a drastic improvement in load time for the help
- file. Gone are the long "PLEASE WAIT" messages. Help is now available
- practically instantaneously on all processors.
-
-
- Improved Manual
-
- Registered users will receive a comprehensive manual including all these
- changes, as well as detailed instructions on the CONFIG program.
-
-
- Manual Omission
-
- The instruction manual makes no mention to the Screen Saver feature.
- This was accidentally left out. All versions of SuperMenu include a screen
- saving black out feature. After 5 minutes of inactivity, the screen will
- black out, and you will see a small SuperMenu box jump around on the
- screen. This is done to prevent images from burning into your screen. This
- new version of SuperMenu (2.1) allows you to change the delay from 1 to 15
- minutes by using the CONFIG program.
-
-
- Alternate Media
-
- Registered users may request to receive their registered version on
- 3.5" disks instead of 5.25" disks.
-

- NO CRIPPLED SOFTWARE
-
- SuperMenu continues to be a fully working shareware version of the
- registered product. It does everything the registered version does, and
- is not crippled or time delayed in any way, shape or form.
