  28. What is File Express?
  29.  
  30. File Express is a database management program written for the IBM Personal 
  31. Computer and PC-compatible computers.  Using File Express, information 
  32. of virtually any kind can be put into the computer, printed, sorted, 
  33. displayed and reported.  For example, a list of names and addresses can be 
  34. entered, then they can be sorted into post code sequence or last name 
  35. sequence, printed out onto mailing labels, and updated as the list changes.  
  36. The same data can be included in reports, or simply displayed on the 
  37. computer screen when needed.  Customized form letters can also be written 
  38. in File Express by merging names from the database file with a letter.

  40. File Express is very popular among first-time database users and non-
  41. technical users.  But as File Express has continued to be improved over 
  42. the last six years, it has also become very powerful.  Some of its early 
  43. first-time  users have advanced to true "power users" and we have
  44. addressed their  needs too, while maintaining the simplicity of the manual 
  45. and the software.

  48. Installing File Express

  50. The diskettes included in this package contain compressed files which
  51. must be expanded using the File Express Installation program.  To do
  52. this, insert the diskette labelled "Program Disk" into drive A and at
  53. the DOS prompt A>, type INSTALL and press <Enter>.  Then follow the
  54. instructions on the screen.

  56. Once you have installed the program you can use the Information System
  57. to read about the program, Expressware and our other products.  The
  58. Information System also includes a Tutorial that can be followed to
  59. learn more about the features of File Express.

  61. To start the Information System, type:   INFO <Enter> for the DOS prompt.

  63. If you have the Documentation Disk, the Installation process will put
  64. FEDOC.EXE and associated documentation files onto your hard disk.  These
  65. contain the full User's Guide for File Express.  You can view the
  66. manual on screen, chapter by chapter, or print it on your printer.
