- "CALCULATION HELP"
-
- "This program will do calculations on the data in the records. The user"
- "selects the source data, process, second data if any, and the address"
- "of the results. Full-screen menus guide you through the simple arith-"
- "metic problem format you learned in the second grade. Once directed,"
- "the computer will do the same problem for all the records in the cur-"
- "rent group, and place the answers where you tell it."
-
- "First you enter the whereabouts of the first value, the one to be"
- "acted upon. Then you select the process. Some processes require an"
- "additional value (add) and some do not (move, square root). If you"
- "select a two value process you specify the whereabouts of a second"
- "value. The first and second values can be on disk, in a counter field"
- "or a keyboard entry. Finally, you select the address for the answer."
- "It can be written to disk or placed in a counter field in memory."
-
- "If you write your results to disk be doubly certain that it's o.k. to"
- "over-write data now recorded. This is an advanced function and you"
- "need to be VERY CAREFUL with it. It will over-write and DESTROY data"
- "of a permanent nature. You should always use un-assigned numerics or"
- "be certain you know what you are doing. You needn't write data back to"
- "disk unless you need to record it. Use the counters."
-
- "You are provided with two RAM-based counters for each record in the"
- "current group. They can be likened to the display on a calculator."
- "Each record has two calculators of its' own that operate independently"
- "but can use each others' stored value."
-
- "Your two calculators have the capacity to store sixteen digits of full"
- "floating point numbers. Dollar amounts can range into the trillions,"
- "and nano-units can be accurately recorded as well. Since the computer"
- "has sixteen digits of precision, as opposed to ten on the best calcul-"
- "ators, your results will be frightenigly accurate."
-
- "The counters can, by the way, occupy up to 128KB in an 8,000 record"
- "file. They are displayed in the dialog box during record view and you"
- "can place them in the secondary display area of the browse screen by"
- "by pressing F18. If a counter is the destination of a computed value"
- "this will be done for you when you return to browse."
-
- "Before executing the calculation the program pauses to re-display your"
- "input. You may correct keying/logic errors before calculating."
-
- "You may do as many calculations as you need to extrapolate your data."
