  1. PARnet-PC V0.4, testroutines and packet driver (2-SEP-93)

  4. This is the V0.4 release of PARnet for PC. A lot has been changed in the
  5. hardware since V0.3. To be exactly: the hardware has been eliminated!
  6. Yes! no more soldering on the old (and slow) PARnet-PC interface.

  8. BUT: The disadvantage of this version is that you can only connect 2
  9. machines with eachother, otherwise you will blow up the CIA's. And you can
  10. only use it with a bi-directional printer card. Uni-directional cards will
  11. also blow the chips from your Amiga.

  13. Anyway, I've still included the multi-host interface hardware & software
  14. for those who want to be sure and save their CIA's.

  16. I did not manage to get the source code to the NET:-file system and
  17. NET:-handler. So I was only able to port the parnet.device. Using commands
  18. like 'copy net:c/dos/command.com ram:' are NOT POSSIBLE yet.
  19. But I have made a packet driver for TCP/IP applications (like Telnet,FTP,
  20. NFS,etc.), these can be used instead. But if anyone has the source code to
  21. NET:, please send it to me.

  23. The PARnet-PC packet driver can be used in combination with SPAR V37.1
  24. (The SANA-II PARnet device driver) for TCP/IP transfers between a PC
  25. and an Amiga. For those who still run under KS1.X I can offer a patched
  26. AmigaNOS V2.9k which has a PARnet addition.

  28. The current status of PARnet-PC is: Experimental BUGware.
  29. Use it at own risk. Don't blame me when your CIA's are smoking due to a
  30. software failure. But please report it to me if it happens.
