  5. -About HypeRace
  6.        HypeRace is an overhead racing game.  It features 32 color graphics.
  7.     Each of the cars feature about 160 frames of animation.  If you are
  8.     running the game on a machine with one megabyte of memory then Hyperace
  9.     allows three cars on screen.  If it is running on machines with two
  10.     megabytes of memory or more, Hyperace allows four cars on screen at once.
  11.     Any of the cars can be human controlled. It was written using AMOS.
  12.  
  13. -Floppy Disk Users
  14.    The disk "HR1:" is self booting so simply insert it into "DF0:" and
  15.    reboot the system.  If you have a second drive insert "HR2:" into it.
  16.    Otherwise disks will be requested by the game when needed.

  18. -Hard Disk Installation
  19.       Step1) Copy the HypeRace files to the a drawer of your choice.
  20.       Step2) Open a shell window
  21.       Step3) Type the following:
  22.                cd s:
  23.                ed startup-sequence
  24.       Step4) Anywhere in the startup sequence type:
  25.                assign hr1: <type the location of the game ie
  26.                             HD0:games/hyperace/>
  27.                assign hr2: <the same location as above>
  28.       Step5) save the changes and exit ed.
  29.  
  30.       **** Important Note!! ****
  31.          HypeRace requires a lot of memory to run.  If you only have one
  32.       megabyte then you probably will not have enough memory to run HypeRace
  33.       while workbench is running. Even if you have two megabytes you still
  34.       might only have enough memory free to run the three car version.  It
  35.       would be advised to use the disk based version.  This version does not
  36.       open a workbench so all of your computer's memory can be used.

  38. -Playing the Game
  39.       Main Menu
  40.          Simply use the "F1" - "F4" keys to select the various options.
  41.          F1) Cycles through the number of players
  42.          F2) Cycles Between the various game types
  43.             Single Race: Will bring up a menu allowing you to race one of
  44.                          the tracks.  When this menu comes up keep in mind
  45.                          that only the first six tracks are supplied with
  46.                          this version.  The other six are available on a
  47.                          data disk. (More on that later)
  48.  
  49.             Championship Original Tracks: If you do not have the data disk
  50.                          then this is the only Championship that you should
  51.                          choose.  This will cylcle through the six available
  52.                          tracks and keep track of scores, wins, etc.

  54.             Championship Data Disk Tracks: Requires data disk
  55.  
  56.             Championship All 12 Tracks: Requires data disk.
  57.          F3) Cycles between 1 and 10 laps per race
  58.          F4) When you are happy with your selections this will begin the
  59.              game (Shows track select screen for single race)

  61.       Controlling Your Spanking New Sports Car
  62.          Joystick Controls:
  63.             Fire = Accelerate
  64.             Left = Steer Left
  65.             Right = Steer Right
  66.          Keyboard controls:
  67.            Blue Car:
  68.             Left Shift = Accelerate
  69.             Left alt = Steer left
  70.             Left Amiga = Steer right
  71.            Green Car (Two Megs Only):
  72.             Right Shift = Acclerate
  73.             Right Amiga = Steer Left
  74.             Right Alt = Steer Right
  75.          In game key controls:
  76.             P = Pauses the game
  77.             Q = Quits current race and if all human players have finished,
  78.                 it finishes the computer cars automatically.
