  4. This README file contains information about the recommended
  5. requirements for installing WordPerfect Internet Publisher (WPIP)
  6. on your computer and starting a new HTML document.  It also
  7. contains the instructions for installing WPIP and last minute
  8. changes made to the software that did not make it into the
  9. documentation in Envoy format (WPIPHELP.EVY).

  33. RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  34. ===============================
  35. - Personal computer using a 386 or higher processor
  36. - WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows or later, or WordPerfect 6.1 for
  37. Windows/SGML Edition or later
  38. - 6M RAM or more
  39. - Hard disk with 3M of available disk space
  40. - VGA or other high-resolution display supported by Microsoft
  41. Windows
  42. - Windows 3.1 or higher, or Microsoft Windows for Workgroups
  43. - Mouse or other Windows pointing device
  44.  
  45. RECOMMENDED INTERNET REQUIREMENTS
  46. =================================
  47. To use Netscape Navigator, which comes with WPIP,you must already
  48. have the following installed or connected to your computer:
  49.  
  50. - A Winsock (version 1.1 or higher) compliant TCP/IP product
  51. (talk to your TCP/IP vendor)
  52. - Physical connectivity to the Internet
  53. - A service provider in your area to give you Internet access
  54.  
  55. IMPORTANT: If you were able to download WPIP from ftp.novell.com,
  56. you already have the necessary physical connectivity to the
  57. Internet.
  58.  
  59. NOTES ON INSTALLING WPIP
  60. =========================
  61. To install WPIP, you must have WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows
  62. (WPWin).  You can have WPWin installed and running from either
  63. your hard drive or from a workstation on a network.  However, you
  64. must install and run WPIP on your own hard drive, even if you are
  65. running WPWin from a network.  The setup program will
  66. automatically detect how you are running WPWin and configure WPIP
  67. accordingly.

  69. The three main components that you will be installing are the
  70. Netscape Navigator (TM) browser, the Envoy Distributable Viewer,
  71. and the various WPIP program files, including the documentation
  72. in Envoy format (WPIPHELP.EVY).  If Netscape and/or Envoy are
  73. already installed on your computer, WPIP will not install the
  74. browser or the Distributable Viewer.  Instead, the setup program
  75. will detect where these two programs are installed on your
  76. computer and include them in the configuration of WPIP.

  78. INSTALLING WPIP
  79. ================
  80. Before you proceed with the installation, please read Notes on
  81. Installing WPIP above.

  83. 1    In the Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File
  84. menu.
  85.  
  86. 2    In the command line text box, type the path (the computer
  87. drive and directory where you stored the expanded installation
  88. files from WPIPZIP.EXE) and the filename SETUP.EXE, then choose
  89. OK.
  90.  
  91. 3    Follow the on-screen prompts to finish installing Internet
  92. Publisher.
  93.

  97. CREATING A WPIP INSTALLATION DISK SET
  98. =====================================
  99. If you would like to create an installation disk set so that
  100. others can install WPIP on their own computer, you will need two
  101. blank diskettes.  On diskette one, copy the following expanded
  102. installation files (from WPIPZIP.EXE):

  116. On diskette two, copy the following expanded installation file
  117. (from WPIPZIP.EXE):

  121. HOW DO I START A NEW HTML DOCUMENT?
  122. ====================================
  123. To start a new HTML document in WPWin 6.1, you must first select
  124. the WPIP template.  This template, like many of the templates
  125. already included with WordPerfect, includes a predefined Toolbar
  126. which contains the options you will be using to create your HTML
  127. document (you can also use the HTML menu on the menu bar to
  128. choose the same options that are found on the Toolbar.)  For more
  129. information about templates, see New in the WordPerfect 6.1 for
  130. Windows User's Guide.

  132. To select the WPIP template,
  133.  
  134. 1    In WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows, choose New from the File
  135. menu.
  136.  
  137. 2    Highlight HTML Document in the Select Template text box,
  138. then choose OK.
  139.  
  140. The default WPIP Toolbar is displayed along with the HTML menu to
  141. the left of Help on the menu bar.  Any option found on the
  142. Toolbar or the HTML menu can be used to create your HTML
  143. document.
  144.  
  145. 3    In the Document Title text box, type a short, descriptive
  146. name, then choose OK.
  147.  
  148. This name will appear as the main heading of your HTML document,
  149. and will also appear in the title bar of the browser when you
  150. export to HTML.
  151.  
  152. For help with creating the rest of your HTML document, you can
  153. follow the various tasks that are described in the WPIP
  154. documentation.
  155.  
  156. To access the WPIP documentation,
  157.  
  158. 1    Click the Question Mark icon on the default Internet
  159. Publisher Toolbar.  Or, choose Internet Publisher from the Help
  160. menu.  The best place to start is in the section titled Creating
  161. a New HTML Document: The Basics.
  162.  
  163. (You can also access the documentation from the Windows
  164. Program Manager.  In the Internet Publisher program group, click
  165. the icon titled WPIPHELP.)
  166.  
  167. CENTERING TEXT IN HTML DOCUMENTS
  168. =================================
  169. WPIP and Netscape Navigator support the centering of single lines
  170. of text (Shift+F7) and entire blocks of text (Ctrl+E) in your
  171. document.  On export, WPIP converts any center codes to HTML
  172. center tags.  Beware, however, that centered text is not
  173. understood by all browsers.
  174.  
  175. NETSCAPE NAVIGATOR 1.1 USERS
  176. =======================================
  177. If you are using Netscape Navigator 1.1 (32-bit version), there
  178. are two variations in the way you need to display your exported
  179. HTML document in Netscape.  The variations depend on what is
  180. already displayed in an open Netscape window.
  181.  
  182. -Variation 1: You are creating your document in WordPerfect. 
  183. Netscape 1.1 is already open with a page displayed that is
  184. not your own (for example, a home page somewhere on the
  185. Internet).  How do you view your exported document in Netscape?
  186.  
  187. When you export your working document to HTML format for display
  188. in Netscape, you will be prompted to switch to the open Netscape
  189. window (hold down the Alt key, then press the Tab key until the
  190. Netscape name appears in the box, then release both keys) and
  191. open your file.  To open your file, choose Open File from the
  192. File menu, select your HTML file using the drive, directory, and
  193. filename lists, then choose OK.

  195. -Variation 2:  You are creating your document in WordPerfect. 
  196. Netscape 1.1 is already open and an earlier version of your
  197. exported HTML document is displayed.  How do you view the most
  198. current version of your document in Netscape?
  199.  
  200. When you export your working document to HTML format, the open
  201. Netscape window is displayed.  Choose Reload from the View menu
  202. to replace the display of the former version of your HTML file
  203. with the latest version.

  205. PROGRAM FILES
  206. =============
  207. This section of the README shows you which files are installed
  208. when you run the WPIP setup program and where there are located.
  209.  
  210. The following files are installed in the \WPIP directory:
  211. WPVWLNCH.EXE - Launches the Envoy Distributable Viewer.
  212. WPHTML.EXE - The main program file for WPIP.
  213. README.TXT - The file you are reading right now.
  214. WPIP.INI - Used to setup and initialize WPIP.
  215. WPBRLNCH.EXE - Launches the Netscape Browser when you export.
  216. WPNSLNCH.DLL - Runs in conjunction with Netscape to help it work
  217. with WordPerfect.
  218. WPIPHELP.EVY - The WPIP documentation in Envoy format.

  220. The following files are installed in the TEMPLATE directory (If
  221. you are running WPWin 6.1 from a workstation on a network, your
  222. template directory may be located at \WINDOWS\TEMPLATE.  Or, if
  223. you are running WPWin 6.1 from your own computer, your template
  224. directory may be located at \WPWIN\TEMPLATE.):
  225. HTML.WPT - A WPWin 6.1 template used for creating HTML documents.
  226. IMG.WPG - The placeholder graphic used in your HTML documents.

  228. The following file is installed in the \WINDOWS directory:
  229. WPURL16.DLL - Activated when you click on a hyperlink from within
  230. WordPerfect.
  231.  
  232. The following file is installed in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:
  233. TTEMBED.DLL - True Type font embedding for Envoy.

  235. The following sample files are installed in the \WPIP\SAMPLES
  236. directory and can be deleted if desired:
