  10. Well it happened again.  Gopher Jewels was lesson number ten and was not
  11. labeled.  This is number eleven.  I guess I need to give everyone %10 off
  12. the next workshop.

  14. Actually, I can do better than that.
  15.  
  16. The Coalition for Networked Information (CNI) invited me to speak on Internet
  17. training at EDUCOM last week.  I learn a good deal from the other speakers.
  18. In particular, one unique idea, that I'd like to try with this workshop and
  19. the ones I do in person, was presented by Scott Siddall of Kenyon College.
  20.  
  21. They do a one week workshop on the Internet for their faculty and *pay*
  22. the faculty to attend.  That makes sense.  Faculty's time is
  23. money, and I'm sure the administration wants the faculty to make the best
  24. use of the information resources available through the Internet.
  25.  
  26. Let's see.  We'll base our price on my weekly unemployment check from
  27. Louisiana--$181, times the three weeks or so of this workshop,
  28. times the 17,099 participants.  That adds up to--Uh.  Oh my......

  40. The next way we will explore Gopherspace is by using the powerful
  41. navigational software, Veronica.  Veronica was developed by the
  42. University of Nevada to help access Gopher directories and the many
  43. files they contain.

  45. Before we begin our search with Veronica, let's use some of the
  46. Gopher skills we've already learned.

  48. Go to the Gopher menu that takes you to "All the Gopher Servers in
  49. the World."
  50.  
  51. (Use your the letter "v" for view if you added this to your personal
  52. bookmark.)

  114. Fortunately, the first item in this Gopher menu is called "Search
  115. Gopherspace using Veronica", and that is our destination.  However,
  116. before going there, I suggest we add this to our bookmark as well.

  142. using Veronica." The first six Gopher items end with "<?>" which
  143. indicates that the items are index-search servers (we'll talk more
  144. about that later).  I suggest you add the first six menu items to
  145. your bookmark.

  174. and "How to compose Veronica queries (NEW June 24) READ ME!!."  Do
  175. you have questions about Veronica?  Then read these two information
  176. packages or save or mail them to yourself.
