  6. time to write this brief text file!.

  8. [Disclaimer! - Read me First!]

  10. This version of Advent is FreeWare.  This means you may
  11. freely copy it, give it away, etc (without making a profit) but
  12. if you do decide to use it on your system you have to e-mail us
  13. via our address which is shown at the bottom of this file.  You
  14. are not allowed to modify the executable and the archive must 
  15. not be changed.  Advent has been tested for a while on my own
  16. computer and has been found to be stable in everyday use. 
  17. However the author is not responsible for any loss of data or any
  18. damage to software or hardware that may result directly or 
  19. indirectly from the use of this program.

  21. [Introduction - What does it do?]
  22. =================================
  23. Advent is a simple little program which sits in your
  24. WBStartup drawer and is ran each time your computer boots.  It
  25. displays an advent calendar on your Workbench screen which 
  26. automatically `opens' the door for that day, and then shuts the
  27. window after a specified delay.  Each day starting from the 1st
  28. December until the 24th December has a picture shown to represent
  29. that day.

  31. [Requirements - What do I need?]
  32. ================================
  33. An Amiga :), Workbench 2.0 or greater and the reqtools
  34. library installed!

  36. [Installation]

  38. Double click on the Install-Advent script, the executable
  39. will be copied to your WBStartup and graphics file to your S:
  40. directory.

  42. [Can I change any program settings?]
  43. ====================================
  44. Not really, except you can change the programs DELAY tooltype.
  45. This sets how long the window should stay open on each boot before
  46. closing automatically.  The value for DELAY is not in seconds.  
  47. The default DELAY setting is 400, which means the window will stay 
  48. open for approximately 9-10 seconds.  Therefore a DELAY setting of
  49. 800 would make the window stay opeen for about 18-20 seconds, and 
  50. so on.

  52. [What happens if its not December and I run the program?]
  53. =========================================================
  54. Nothing!, it won't crash, etc.  You'll just get a nice little
  55. message informing you that you should wait until December until
  56. you run the program!.

  60. I hope not!, but if there is then please report them to me
  61. via one of the methods shown at the end of this file.

  65. Hopefully!, the second release will have sound and will allow
  66. you to use your own graphics, etc.

  70. Yes!, not with the actual program but with new graphics, etc.
  71. If anyone out there is an Icon Artist (in MagicWB or NewIcons)
  72. then please contact me :), I need someone to create some icons for
  73. this program and a forthcoming bigger project (contact me for more
  74. details!).
