- MIDDLE EARTH QUIZ
- by Dave Moorman
-
-
- I am a Middle Earth fan. I am
- especially a Peter Jackson's Lord of
- the Rings fan. When I want to watch
- something that is engaging and mind
- stretching, I go back to the Extended
- Version DVD's and all the Appendices.
-
- One of the great miracles of
- filmmaking is how New Line Cinema gave
- a fairly unknow, New Zealand horror
- film director $297 million to make all
- three movies at one go. The results
- are beyond belief. Even if the story
- has been changed to some extent to fit
- it on the screen, the movies do take
- us to Middle Earth.
-
- So, as I Googled around the web
- one night, looking for something
- interesting to read, I found a Middle
- Earth Quiz. It turned out to be
- downright difficult -- especially
- after the first set of questions.
-
- Now, here is something for
- LOADSTAR, I thought. I copied the
- questions and answers to EditPad,
- converted the file to our 38-column
- C-64 text, then got busy with a
- program.
-
- I mostly used ideas for the
- program explained in the DotBASIC Quiz
- tutorial -- though the particulars had
- to be changed. I also grabbed some
- images off the Web to add a little
- pazzazz to the program.
-
- All in all, the quiz should be a
- real challenge. You will need to be
- very familiar with both The Lord of
- the Rings and The Hobbit -- the books,
- not just the movie. I couldn't get
- 100% right when I first took the test.
-
- See what you can do.
-
- To start, click "Begin Journey"
- (or press <B>) and choose one of the
- three quiz files. WARNING: Numbers two
- and three are difficult. You can use
- the mouse, cursor, or number keys to
- choose the answer. I think you will
- enjoy the results of both correct and
- incorrect choices.
-
- When you have finished one of the
- quizzes, a report on your success rate
- is displayed. Press any key, and
- choose "Begin Journey" again for the
- next quiz. Or, at any time, click "Go
- Back Home" (or press <G>) to exit the
- current quiz then the whole program.
