  2.           MIDDLE EARTH QUIZ

  6.     I am a Middle Earth fan. I am
  7. especially a Peter Jackson's Lord of
  8. the Rings fan. When I want to watch
  9. something that is engaging and mind
  10. stretching, I go back to the Extended
  11. Version DVD's and all the Appendices.

  13.     One of the great miracles of
  14. filmmaking is how New Line Cinema gave
  15. a fairly unknow, New Zealand horror
  16. film director $297 million to make all
  17. three movies at one go. The results
  18. are beyond belief. Even if the story
  19. has been changed to some extent to fit
  20. it on the screen, the movies do take
  21. us to Middle Earth.

  23.     So, as I Googled around the web
  24. one night, looking for something
  25. interesting to read, I found a Middle
  26. Earth Quiz. It turned out to be
  27. downright difficult -- especially
  28. after the first set of questions.
  29.  
  30.     Now, here is something for
  31. LOADSTAR, I thought. I copied the
  32. questions and answers to EditPad,
  33. converted the file to our 38-column
  34. C-64 text, then got busy with a
  35. program.
  36.  
  37.     I mostly used ideas for the
  38. program explained in the DotBASIC Quiz
  39. tutorial -- though the particulars had
  40. to be changed. I also grabbed some
  41. images off the Web to add a little
  42. pazzazz to the program.

  44.     All in all, the quiz should be a
  45. real challenge. You will need to be
  46. very familiar with both The Lord of
  47. the Rings and The Hobbit -- the books,
  48. not just the movie. I couldn't get
  49. 100% right when I first took the test.

  53.     To start, click "Begin Journey"
  54. (or press <B>) and choose one of the
  55. three quiz files. WARNING: Numbers two
  56. and three are difficult. You can use
  57. the mouse, cursor, or number keys to
  58. choose the answer. I think you will
  59. enjoy the results of both correct and
  60. incorrect choices.

  62.     When you have finished one of the
  63. quizzes, a report on your success rate
  64. is displayed. Press any key, and
  65. choose "Begin Journey" again for the
  66. next quiz. Or, at any time, click "Go
  67. Back Home" (or press <G>) to exit the
  68. current quiz then the whole program.
