  8.     Here is music that spans the
  9. spectrum from elegant to electronic!
  10. Aleksi has packed some 32 tunes into
  11. this sweet little music box -- all
  12. interesting, most eclectic, some
  13. enigmatic!
  14.  
  15.     This is clearly "alternative"
  16. music -- premiering at the Alternative
  17. Party of 2004. The sounds Aleksi has
  18. produced from the mighty, modest SID
  19. can be haunting ("Pond") or classic
  20. ("Rock and Roll Butterfly"), humorous
  21. ("Flight of the Bumblebee" -- played
  22. on a rubber tire!) or pure Moogishness
  23. ("Computer Music").

  25.     Simon Carless adds clever "liner
  26. notes" to each song, creating just the
  27. right mental ambiance for the numbers.
  28. The presentation is clever and moody,
  29. but a bit hard for old fogeys such as
  30. myself to read: too much like the real
  31. world without my glasses and nitro
  32. tablets!

  34.     This is the type of music we
  35. enjoyed at the Micro Palooza in
  36. Portland after Christmas, 2003 --
  37. except I am sure your monitor cannot
  38. push out the wattage that engulfed us
  39. there. I am sending this issue in a
  40. PC-ready format to all our musical
  41. friends from Oregon with a challenge:
  42. the LOADSTAR Palooza is on! Warm up
  43. those SIDs and get the beat going and
  44. thrill us with some serious
  45. retro-rock!
