  7.     Have you ever wanted to drive the
  8. big rigs?  Not out on the highway
  9. with a heavy load to slow you down,
  10. but at the speedway where you can use
  11. your 1000 horses to slop through mud
  12. and impress the screaming fans in the
  13. stands?  I bet you have.
  14.  
  15.     Well, now you can, because
  16. MONSTER POWER will bring the speedway,
  17. mud and all, right into your living
  18. room.  There are actually three
  19. events to MONSTER POWER, the Tractor
  20. Pull, the Mud Bog, and the Monster
  21. Truck.
  22.  
  23.     When the program boots up the
  24. speedway will scroll from left to
  25. right.  You can speed up the scrolling
  26. by pushing the joystick in Port #2
  27. right or left.  When the event you
  28. want to play is showing, press the
  29. firebutton.  Then select the number
  30. of players who will be competing.
  31.  
  32.     When you are ready, press the
  33. firebutton and make an attempt for a
  34. high score.  The players take turns.
  35. Each player gets two attempts before
  36. the event is over and the scoreboard
  37. shows.  You can then play the same
  38. event or choose another.  To change
  39. the number of players or start the
  40. scores over, press the RESTORE key.
  41.  
  42.     In every event you need to use
  43. the firebutton to control the motor
  44. speed, which is displayed on the
  45. tachometer.  When you rev above the
  46. red line, you run the risk of blowing
  47. your motor.  If you are getting close
  48. to blowup, the heat indicator will
  49. flash.  A blown motor will cause the
  50. oil light to come on and the attempt
  51. is over -- just like in real life.
  52.  
  53.     Here are some specific strategies
  54. for each of the events.
  55.  
  56. Tractor Pull - Pull back on the
  57.   joystick to back the tractor to the
  58.   weight sled.  Rev the motor to
  59.   move.
  60.  
  61.   As soon as you are hooked, push the
  62.   joystick forward and rev the motor
  63.   as much as you dare.  Try to get as
  64.   far down the track as you can before
  65.   the weight box overwhelms you.
  66.  
  67. Mud Bog - Wait for the start light to
  68.   come on, then rev the motor and
  69.   push the stick forward.  You must
  70.   steer right and left to keep in
  71.   bounds.  If you get too muddy, you
  72.   might not be able to finish.

  74. Monster Truck - Wait for the start
  75.   light, rev your motor and push the
  76.   stick forward.  Watch the overhead
  77.   view because the truck tends to
  78.   wander a bit.

  80.     Note that the start light is on a
  81. white pole to the front of the
  82. vehicle.

  84.     With MONSTER POWER your life-long
  85. dream of driving the big rigs and
  86. pulling down major cash is only a
  87. short diskload away.  Well, maybe the
  88. part about the major bucks is still
  89. but a figment of the imagination, but
  90. don't be surprised if you are tempted
  91. to join the nearest Truck Driving
  92. Academy.  If the LOADSTAR Tower ever
  93. crumbles, that's where I'll be
