  8.     Soon, those who live in the
  9. northern latitudes will be able to don
  10. snow suits, gloves, scarves, and ski
  11. masks and either knock over a local
  12. convenience store or get into a great
  13. snow ball war. At my age, by the time
  14. I have done all that donning, I'm
  15. ready for a hot totty and a good book
  16. by the fire.

  18.     So, thanks to Richard Derocher,
  19. LOADSTAR offers you a real alternative
  20. to braving the winter wonderland. Snow
  21. Crazy lets you smack opponents with
  22. icey orbs for hours at a time --
  23. without any worry of frostbite or cold
  24. particles sliding down your neck.

  26.  WARNING: This program will [not] in
  27. any way assist you in nefarious
  28. activities at your local convenience
  29. store. So don't even try!

  31.     Richard sent me this great reflex
  32. game back in 2001 when we first took
  33. over the Tower. I tried it on my PC
  34. with VICE. It did not work. Later, as
  35. I got my C-64 equipment up and
  36. working, I gave the game a shot on the
  37. real stuff, and found it exciting and
  38. challenging. But the fact that it
  39. wouldn't work on VICE gave me pause.
  40.  
  41.     This is a game produced on Shoot
  42. 'Em Up Construction Kit, which is a
  43. great way to get a lot of action with
  44. a minimum of programming. Such
  45. compositions are an excellent way for
  46. novice game designers to try their
  47. hand at the art-form. I would like to
  48. see more!

  50.     Alas, the game does not return to
  51. LOADSTAR. However, as I was putting on
  52. the Does Not Return boot, I happened
  53. to realize that I normally run VICE in
  54. PAL mode. I switched over to NTSC and
  55. Snow Crazy ran like a dream. A [cold]
  56. dream! So the problem is [not] VICE,
  57. it is PAL.

  59.     PAL people -- we are sorry you
  60. won't get to play Snow Crazy. On the
  61. otherhand, many of your masterpieces
  62. jump and jitter on NTSC C-64s. So it
  63. works both ways.
