  8.     If you remember, last year we
  9. published a demo we called CHRISTMAS
  10. 1982. It was a musical slideshow
  11. written by early programmers of the
  12. C-64 to be used as a demonstration by
  13. Commodore dealers. Well, there may
  14. not be any Commodore dealers these
  15. days, but we do have a lot of
  16. Commodore programmers still around,
  17. and Steve Emsley, a frequent
  18. contributor to LOADSTAR, is one of
  19. the best.

  21.     He sent me this program back in
  22. the early part of the year. He had
  23. seen the CHRISTMAS 1982 demo and felt
  24. inspired to write one of his own.
  25. There's something about mixing music
  26. with graphics and throwing in some
  27. sprites and text that appealed to him.
  28. What amazes me is how nice his
  29. pictures look even though they are
  30. done with the standard C-64 text
  31. graphics.

  33.     I've learned a lot about mixing
  34. music, text, sprites and graphics
  35. this month. If you want to see how
  36. it's done, check out the code for
  37. this program. Jeff linked, crunched,
  38. smushed and osterized it so you can't
  39. really modify it, but you can look at
  40. the code.

  42.     Don't be a Scrooge this year. Put
  43. your monitor in a front window and let
  44. the neighbors see how full of
  45. spirit(s) you are.
