- SOFTDISK Publishing picked up a
- few educational programs from Learning
- Technologies and we'll be presenting
- them to you in the next few issues.
- They are programs aimed at elementary
- and pre-school level kids, with an
- emphasis on graphics.
-
- SHUTTERBUG'S PICS has terrific
- bit-map images and a great premise.
- Shutterbug, a friendly bear, takes two
- pictures of one of his animal pals. He
- will show you the first one then flash
- the second one on the screen for about
- three seconds. There will be an item
- missing from the second picture. Then
- Shutterbug will show you four items
- and you are to pick the missing item.
-
- While I am the last person to know
- what's good for little children, I
- imagine that pattern recognition is
- pretty important. I know my own
- daughter could have used this program
- when she was little. I would send her
- off to find something for me and she
- never would find it, even when it was
- right under her nose. When she was
- looking for something for herself,
- though, she had no problem. Hmmmm.
- Maybe there's another factor involved?
-
- SHUTTERBUG'S PICS has quite a few
- animals and items so your child can
- play a long time. It only ends when
- you press F7. The interface isn't
- real responsive, so be prepared to
- hit some keys more than once. When
- you hit F7, your score will be shown,
- then you are asked if you want to
- play again or quit. Quitting does
- not return you to LOADSTAR.
