  7.     SOFTDISK Publishing picked up a
  8. few educational programs from Learning
  9. Technologies and we'll be presenting
  10. them to you in the next few issues.
  11. They are programs aimed at elementary
  12. and pre-school level kids, with an
  13. emphasis on graphics.
  14.  
  15.     SHUTTERBUG'S PICS has terrific
  16. bit-map images and a great premise.
  17. Shutterbug, a friendly bear, takes two
  18. pictures of one of his animal pals. He
  19. will show you the first one then flash
  20. the second one on the screen for about
  21. three seconds. There will be an item
  22. missing from the second picture. Then
  23. Shutterbug will show you four items
  24. and you are to pick the missing item.

  26.     While I am the last person to know
  27. what's good for little children, I
  28. imagine that pattern recognition is
  29. pretty important.  I know my own
  30. daughter could have used this program
  31. when she was little. I would send her
  32. off to find something for me and she
  33. never would find it, even when it was
  34. right under her nose. When she was
  35. looking for something for herself,
  36. though, she had no problem. Hmmmm.
  37. Maybe there's another factor involved?

  39.     SHUTTERBUG'S PICS has quite a few
  40. animals and items so your child can
  41. play a long time. It only ends when
  42. you press F7. The interface isn't
  43. real responsive, so be prepared to
  44. hit some keys more than once. When
  45. you hit F7, your score will be shown,
  46. then you are asked if you want to
  47. play again or quit. Quitting does
  48. not return you to LOADSTAR.
